I have never seen something as astonishingly disrispectful in pro sports journalism as how dan Rafael refers to Guillermo rigondeaux in ways so ignorant and fanboyish that belong in a blog comment section but are somehow in the middle of an ESPN published article reporting about a fight of one of the most skilled boxers of recent time. It is a disgrace and an insult to the sport.
What do you think of Dan Rafael getting..

I agree that I also find him to be unprofessional and condescending (which I suspect stems from insecurity), though will also state that I'm biased against him due to him blocking me on Twitter LOL. But it's not like it's just Adrien - this guy has gotten into Twitter beefs with numerous boxers over the years. I do think ESPN could do (much) better than him as their lead boxing guy.
I do think many of his articles are solid and informative; I also appreciate that he does a weekly chat on ESPN's website with boxing fans. But another thing I don't like about the guy - he has no problem calling out certain boxers/promoters but have a hard time believing he'd call out Top Rank/Bob Arum the same way (wouldn't want to risk losing his access to inside information there) so have a tough time respecting the guy as he is clearly biased...Comment

dan rafael is freaking enormous. i passed him in teh hallway backstage at one of the CT casinos. honest to god, i had to turn to one side while i passed him. he was that fat. it was disgusting to be around a person like that.
they didn't have his media crediential and seat set up, and he acted like it was some kind of disservice to the boxing community. MFer could hardly fit on a folding chair while he waited for them to accommodate his disgusting bulk and childish attitude about where he sat. i half expected that b#ch to fold under his massive booty.Comment

Dan is pathetic and should not be a sports writer or atleast boxing. His sports history consests of watching Wrestling... Where is his Boxing knowledge?
Personally I hate Dan Rafeal and have used ESPN less and less because of Rafeals lack of respect and knowledge. He goes out of his way to disrespect fighters, their fans and the sport itself. He is the reason no one uses ESPN for Boxing News.
I personally would like to see either a former boxer/commentator begin writing for ESPN and get rid of Rafeal. He is currently the biggest joke in the boxing community.Comment

Some of the things he said as quoted by others here are a little over the top for a journalist but he is right to criticize Broner-Khabib for being for a title. Benavidez is the interim and is getting superseded by two guys coming off of loses, which is horse ****.Comment

My only issue with Dan is his downplaying his relationship with people at TR when its a very close friendship and a place where he goes to get information.Comment

First off I don't even disagree with what he's saying as far as Broner / Khalil being for a belt but
It's a joke that Fat Dan is even in the position he's in. Espn is the biggest platform for sports there is and this fat slob who can't even walk up a flight of stairs let alone box Constantly talks bad about some of the best in the sport and acts like a complete hack.
He spent years sh.itting on anything Haymon affiliated until the PBC was brought over to ESPN and now he acts like the company yes man he is and eased up.
He knows almost nothing about the sport and does a disservice to it by being in the spot he's in. I read a deadspin article a couple years ago that laid it out perfectly on why Fat Dan is a mediocre corporate whore journalist and I agree with it completely people should check it out
I think he's part of the reason why Youtubers and bloggers have been able to be so successful because you can't get a good opinion from him and it makes hard core fans look else where for their information because it doesn't come from Fat Dan or ESPN.Comment

Dan isn't afraid to call out the bull**** in boxing, and he has the ESPN machine to back him up. Broner getting a title shot is some straight BS, and Dan calling him out on it is a good thing. These fighters needs ESPN more than they need any one fighter, Dan is the only one that's going to write about them.Comment
