Dan can say whatever he wants. They're both prominent figures in boxing, but Rafael puts his life on the line way more than Broner does. Adrien only fights 2-3 times a year, if that. On the other hand, Dan is on first name terms with damn near every buffet establishment in the U.S. What a warrior. All in the name of boxing.

His fat ass is part of the one click culture that dominates social media. He's just keeping up. The sport he covers isn't that popular and this is his only way of staying relevant.

its his job to draw attention to this stuff

Have we forgot about Howard Cosslle and Larry Merchant ? I don't necessarily care for Fat Dan but I like it when journalists call out athletes on their bs

It is bad form for a fat journalist to be using fighting words with a professional fighter, but as long as he is going in on Broner, I'm cool with it

He has always been that way.

He fires back at fighters because he's egotistical, doesn't want to take an L in front of his twitter followers.

Yeah, he basically just writes bland reports.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't it more to do with the fighter reacting to it. He can either give a reporter the time of day or doesn't need to get involved. I don't think you can really put this on the reporter for doing his job. You may not like his opinion or like him as a person but that is irrelevant, he is paid to call it as he sees it. There are millions of them in all sports, I personally hate some of them for different reasons but its up to the athlete to not get dragged into it because they will always come out looking small and feeble. For those of you saying 'Dan would never say that to so and so's face' that is a childish and irrelevant opinion, there are negative things written about athletes, performers, actors, all day ever day, its apart of their job to deal with criticism. Dan Rafael has only got attention in this situation because Broner gave it to him.

I think boxing is maybe the exception to that, it's not like athletics and ball games where people just run around. The boxer almost always has the high ground in these situations because they actually fight.

A reporter trying to verbally joust with a fighter having never set foot in the ring looks inherently disrespectful (even when it is Broner).

Rafael came at Froch not long ago, Froch sonned him and Rafael couldn't take his L and let it be not because he wanted publicity but because his fat pride and ego was hurt.
