WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) is nearing the end of the road for his professional career.

On September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Mayweather will defend his world titles against two-time champion Andre Berto in the headliner of a Showtime Pay-Per-View.

no doubt. and he's right. but, you don't have to be in a toe to toe battle to go for the ko. He was dominating fighters like Marquez and Guererro so easily yet made no effort to land any significant punches for the KO.

This is boxing, a combat sport, legacy wise that doesn't mean a thing. If this was a business forum maybe that would mean something.

He has basically admitted through his entire career that if he wouldn't run, he accepts he would lose. I sort of appreciate his honesty.

i dont think he is doing this because he is smart but because he is afraid to get punched. If you are afraid of something you try to find a way to avoid it.Basically its not his smartness made him good at "hit and dont be hit" but his fear of being hit.

And he also chose Berto because he was exciting, but I guess he was exciting because of something other than toe to toe fighting?

Shrug, but can't blame the man for fighting like he did.
