That doesn't mean Golovkin is another Broner but it does call into question the way the Ring's panel rates pound for pound fighters.
At least in Kolovkin's case you can make the argument that he has beaten Pascal and BHop although when he met them they were well past sell by date. Just wait - Beterbiev and then Kudryashov will soon be lb4lb - then you'll be really frustrated.
" P4P "..... should not be taken too seriously.

Not to mention why would GGG care about Lara when he is after MW belts?
As for Ward, dude is a LHW who hasn't fought a good fighter in years. Even then, he could have come down to 164. Oh that's draining him you say. Ward did the same thing to Dawson. GGG gave him a better deal.
Neither Ward or Lara make sense for GGG. Both a runners who bring little to the table.
Say GGG beats Lara:
The haters will say he was too small.
No money, and Lara is a runner.
Very little upside, besides the obvious roadblocks.
Say GGG beats Ward:
Again no money.
At 168, Ward would weigh a good 185-190 rehydrated. A lot of risk for no belt, no money, and frankly little from fans.
And right now GGG wants to stay making MW or lower, so a Ward fight now would mean he won't put on pounds. More risk, no reward.
And for GGG first fight outside the MW, you think he should jump in with a guy who just fought at 172, and walks around at 180 (self proclaimed).
Canelo is bigger than GGG, why doesn't he fight Ward. Heck, why doesn't he fight a MW, since he is fighting for the MW belt.
The haters would say Ward isn't the same fighter he once was.
This idea that GGG is ducking Ward or Lara is a trumped up charge from fans scared to see their favorite fighters fight the true MW beast. Cotto is a MW champion, has never fought at 160. Damn joke.
Canelo is a true MW who has skated by fighting Jr. MW.
But oh no, God forbid GGG get a shot at people who are fighting to be MW champion.
Let Ward fix his career before he worries about GGG.
Why Rosado ?

Fact is neither team is really interested in this fight right now. Andre needs to re-establish his marketability and Golovkin doesn't want to shut the door on the lucrative Cotto / Canelo option.

It was hilarious how Andre went from "Stop bringing up my name" to "I want to fight Golovkin this fall" just days before GGG vs Lemieux was finalised.
Yeah, ok we believe you Andre.

Without that belt to legitimise it, the lineal title won't mean ****.Last edited by kafkod; 09-01-2015, 10:43 PM.
