GGG vs Floyd is just talk also. Back when GGG first came to the States K2 were desperate to get him some attention and Abel Sanchez's "He could beat anybody from 154 to 168" statement was part of that publicity drive.

GGG has been fending questions about it ever since, including whether he would he come down to 154 for Floyd. All he has ever done is answer "Yes" to that question. He has never called out Floyd or said that Floyd should fight him. Just that he would fight Floyd if he was offered the shot.

Ward shouldn't come down to 160 or 164. But he shouldn't expect a lighter man to come up in weight for him either. If you want to fight a guy in a different division, you go to him, either up or down, like Dawson did for Ward and GGG offered to do for Chavez Jr and Froch. You do not demand that he moves up or down for you.
I just got one question for u : when GGG sold u that wolf ticket that he wanted a piece of Ward and u bought it , what were ur comments during those times ? We're u one of those guys on here talking sh.t about how GGG was gonna kick his azz , or was u one of the ones claiming Ward wasn't gonna fight him and was ducking ? Either way u should feel a little cheated that GGG sold u beach front property overlooking the pacific but all u got was a shanty in the Louisiana swamps. Believing GGG was serious about fighting Ward , look where your presumptions have gotten u . Now u have more nerve than a tooth ache to keep wrong and silly presumptions going claiming Ward will "Never" sign to fight Kov .

Still doesn't change the fact that Ward isn't looking to fight Kov even though that fight makes a lot of sense since they're only a division apart. Say what you want about GGG, but Ward continues to waste away his career. But of course, he's never done anything wrong in the eyes of his fans.

Why isn't Ward looking to fight Kov,
because it hasn't been signed yet ? Do you have anything a little more credible ? Quick conclusions r always drawn claiming black fighters r ducks and cowards , Mayweather, Ward , Stevenson ect but excuses and exemptions r found for Euro fighters when the tables turn . Exp: Beterbiev has been calling Kov out for some time , Kov recently answered the call for a December showdown and for whatever reason Beterbiev and team say no . Now of all the people on here who r quick to call Ward , Flloyd and Stevenson ducks , i didn't hear one person call Beterbiev a duck , instead it was blamed on Haymon or excused by some who were saying its understandable as he should want more fights . Worst part about it is mostly all were rooting for Kov saying he'd kick Beterbiev's azz , but they still didn't lable him a duck . This is why it gets harder and harder to dignity people like yourself with any response , because when u start ur post with "Ward isn't looking to fight Kov" it's the same stale cliché that gets proven wrong time and time again.

So then who is he fighting next again?

          • Why does all Ward fanboys act like Ward didn't turn a GGG fight down three years ago when GGG just entered the American market? At this point GGG was desperate to get anyone in the ring to make a name of himself and challenged everybody between 154 and 168 lbs. That statement was made during that time. At that point Ward went on the record rejecting the fight. Now, three years later, GGG is saying all the time his target is to unify the middleweight division. Now all of a sudden Ward is asking the guy from the lower weight to move up. How is GGG ducking Ward? They are not even fighting at the same weight. Ward rejected fights with Bute, Stevenson, and also re-matches with Froch and Kessler (on foreign soil) in the past. He also rejected a fight with GGG when he wasn't that popular three years ago. Now he's fighting on BET and GGG has to jump to 168 suddenly? For real? If Ward can't fight a dance partner, why not move up and fight Kovalev on PPV? By the way, how can Ward justify fighting guys like Smith, Sartison, Periban or Dunn? He wants 2 million dollar tune-up fights, but also GGG at the same time? How ****** do you have to be to believe this? All Ward has to do is lower his crazy monetary demands, respect HBO's budget, and get ****ing relevant again - means: fighting at least some top 10 fighters in his divison. Otherwise, the GGG fight won't happen. Even if GGG decides to move up, this fight might probably not happen. Ward rejected OSDT already in the past and he won't accept less than 50% of the split. The truth is, right now, his commercial value doesn't even justify 35%. If he continues to fight nobodys on BET in Oakland he won't even get 20%.

              • I think Ward should swallow his pride and jump at this chance. This is a good chance to excite a big audience. I'm sure he doesn't like it but his bull**** cost him and he has to rebuild. This would be the quickest possible way to do so.

I've defended GGG many times against the "he ducking Ward doe" trolls who can't tell the difference between a Kazakh middleweight and a Phillipino welterweight.

My comments have always been along the same lines: Golovkin and Ward are in different weight divisions, and nobody has ever made any attempt to match them, so neither man is ducking the other.

I believe that GGG was ready to fight Ward 2 years ago when the fight was first suggested, but HBO told them both that they would not put up the money for it.

I assume that if the fight had happened back then, it would have been at 168, as no catchweight was mentioned, and GGG was short of options and opponents.

The situation is different now. GGG is a bigger name than Ward and has unification fights at MW lined up. No way was he going to forget about Lemieux, Cotto, and Canelo, and jump straight up to 168 just because Andre said so.

When Ward does fight Kovalev, then you can call me silly for saying it will never happen, and I will have no problem admitting that I was wrong.

Rigo used to fight on Pacquiao undercards in front of a big audience. It failed to grow him into an attraction because he turned most of them off. If Andre has another Paul Smith fight on the Alvarez/Cotto undercard, he risks further damage to his credibility as a top performer. That's not a place for a one-sided tune-up fight, those fans are there to be entertained.

The surest way for Ward to become a big name again is to take a big fight. He could fight Jean Pascal in Montreal. They'd actually sell maybe 10,000 tickets, HBO would be all over it pumping it up as a major fight, and Ward would get credit for fighting a legit challenge.
