In recent interviews on BoxingScene.com, WBC/lineal light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson held nothing back when he accused WBO/WBA/IBF light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev and his promoter of using his name to secure an extension with HBO - who doesn't currently do business with Stevenson's adviser Al Haymon. Stevenson believes that their interest in an unification fight, which would produce an undisputed champion was just for publicity and that they never had any intention of making the fight.

I think Stevenson would take the fight, but Haymon is blocking it because he doesn't do business with HBO.

well this aint good for kovalev. they been playing the call the fighter out everyone hates to get fans game. stevenson wants to fight kovalev and hes dead serious about a purse bid. keep in mind hbo cant legally keep kovalev from entering a purse bid thats the whole idea behind purse bids it gets all the bs out of it and its for the fighters. Duva been talking about these russian billionires so lets do it duva. for god sake enter the purse bid.

all fans can pick sides blame the fighter they dont like i personally think they are both pieces of trash but its such a good potential fight and they aint getting any younger. but the reality is the only way this fight gets made is a purse bid period everything else is for the birds. all duva and hbo have to do is put up the money and whats the worst that could happen? if hbo gets out bid thats because the bid is huge and that means hbo duva and kovalev will all make money regardless.

I just dont see what the big deal is. these hbo exclusive deals are absolutely killing boxing. I think we can all agree hbo is probably the best as far as presentation and what not but their exclusive deals are absolutely killing potential fights

And yet under HBO Kovalev has gotten much better fights and wins than Adonis, the exclusive deal is bad, but Adonis didn't want it before and I doubt he wants it now. Adonis has been fighting terrible opposition, and all of the other names have had trouble making fights with him. Hopkins, Pascal and Kovalev have had no problems making fights against each other, but somehow all of them have had problems with Adonis. That is no coincidence.

They both made moves to avoid fighting eachother, therefore I believe neither of them. Back in the early 00s and 90s guys solely aimed for the undisputed title. This is why I missed don sometimes bc he made tournaments to establish undisputed champs even though he robbed a lot of his boxers.

u hit the nail right on the head..why be scared of purse bids when u have all these "russian billionaires??"..either they dont have a pack with those billionaires or kovalev just used his power and races to poop on a black fighters name while he had no intentions of ever fighting him...

kovalev did have intentions with stevenson was with hbo, but hbo hid money and gave stevesnon and kovaleve a low offfer so stevenson did wat was best for his career and got career high pay days with haymon....

He's gotten the better fights of the two, but somehow If I was Kovalev I'd be piss that my fight purse is in constant flux from 500k to 3.5 mill to 750k despite being under a lucrative HBO deal. Duva should be focused on putting Kovalev in there with the best $$ money fights no matter what the situation, get HBO to put money behind her and position Kovalev to challenge for the no1 p4p spot. She's done the opposite while haymon has positioned his fighters in the WBA and IBF to force purse bids that she isn't gonna be able to win.

kovalev only got the hopkisn fight bc he took 500k for it..stevenson and haymon told hopkins to suck it with those numbers and dang well should have..

pascal was right behind kovalev for the shot at the wbc belt...when kovalev dropped the purse bid he would have been number 1..but that clown rushed stevenson like he couldnt wait..talkin about 60/40 50/50 bc he is the3 bigger draw...stevenson would have took him to purse bid and took a 75-25 deal..pascal didnt like that so he rush kovalev now he's nothing in the division..HIS FAULT..

hbo put up only 1 million for stevensonkovalev back in the day...haymon saw the chance to take stevenson and did...that is BS money for a fight of this caliber
