did Mayweather duck Margarito?

well floyd does it to himself. he takes strategic "retirements" to avoid tough competition, and he waits until they've all beaten each other up and are past it and war torn before he even thinks about fighting them. this is the truth. this is why floyd has yet to legitimately beat a prime hof'er. floyd could have had a prime undefeated cotto on his resume, a prime #1 p4p pacquiao on his resume, williams, margarito, martinez, GGG, khan, forrest, prime mosley, etc. etc. but floyd is his worst enemy. he is a scared insecure person. that's the truth.
when u think of TBE u think of someone that is constantly testing themselves against the best and doesn't wait until they get older and war torn. past prime ali took the big risk and fought a much bigger prime hard hitting foreman. past prime floyd won't even entertain the idea of fighting GGG at 154 (even though floyd fought twice no problem at 154). floyd's a coward fraud. we need to accept this real fact.Last edited by Divine Hammer; 08-21-2015, 10:21 AM.Comment

hahahahahaha give me a break. the ACTUAL question is: did floyd avoid margarito?? yes or no???
if the answer is yes (which it should be) then obviously floyd felt that a prime margarito was a big enough threat. so u and the rest of the floyd farts can go on and say "oh well floyd would have beaten him, so it doesn't matter", but the truth is floyd is a coward and didn't want to even take the risk. cotto and an ancient mosley are more brave than princess floyd. deal with it.
also anything in boxing can happen. ur fantasy fight theories are just that, FANTASY hahahahahahahahahahahaha.Comment

floyd didn't think so, or why else would he avoid him????? it's simple to think about really. u might believe deep in ur heart that it would be an easy fight, but it's another thing for the ACTUAL fighter to feel this as well. and unfortunately floyd didn't feel the same. floyd is a coward who didn't take on any risky fights. and prime margarito was a risky fight.Comment

If he did duck Margarito, maybe it's because he saw that the man looked incredibly dangerous. But since Margacheato was caught with plaster in his wraps, that would explain why he looked so formidable. After all, why should we believe he hadn't been cheating the whole time he was KOing nearly everybody he fought?Comment

No, truth is he took $1 more to fight baldomir. Arum offered Floyd $8million plus bonus(depending how high the PPv sales went) but instead he bought out his contract with Arum and ended up taking $8million and one dollar from goosen promotion to fight baldomir. Fact, look it up.From my understanding Mayweather took $1 more to fight Carlos Baldomir post-TR than he would have gotten to fight Antonio Margarito. Mayweather's last fight with TR was the Zab Judah fight. His next fight was Baldomir & then De La Hoya. Margarito, Williams, Tszyu or whoever you wanna throw out there as a avoided fighter would have picked De La Hoya or the option for the same money that could led to De La Hoya over Mayweather or anyone else too at the time. And rightfully so.
Mainly it sounds like TR was underpaying Mayweather was the biggest issue as far as the immediate issues. If someone else was willing to pay Mayweather $7M to fight Baldomir, who did had a nice unbeaten streak going on although wasn't highly considered, but TR was only willing to pay $7M to fight Margarito, who was seen as one of the biggest threats in boxing at the time TR was clearly lowballing Mayweather. And for the regular job cats this is basically the same difference as if you are working at company A for a $50k a year salary for 50hrs a week, but company B offers to pay you $50k a year salary for working 35hrs a week. Company A needs to come up with more money or you should be at Company B. Its really that simple.
Most importantly though if Mayweather hadn't taken the option to buy out his contract when the Margarito fight was on the table he'd likely never had gotten a chance to fight De La Hoya cuz Arum had no desire to make that fight thus Mayweather would have potentially never gotten where he's at if he hadn't had left TR. Probably could say the same thing for Cotto & I suspect Pacquiao's career would have been even more exceptional if his move to GBP had happened when it was attempted.Comment
