You are misinterpreting the situation. I have had similar situations on my shows in the past. What happens is that a manager or promoter calls and wants to get a guy on your card, and offers to pay the purses involved. You still are required to have a signed contract to submit to the commission, but you cant take the risk that you execute a full purse contract, which you are now liable for, and then the other manager/promoter stiffs you.

So what you do is a $1 contract (in FL the commission wanted $10 as the lowest). That way you cant get screwed out of the money. And since the commission requires the promoter to pay according to the contract, Main Events had to cut $1 check, as silly as that is.....

This is what it sounds like happened.

Fonfara wasn't part of her card. Main Events (Kathy Duva) had a card already set out. Here comes Fonfara wanting to be on her card, which has nothing to do with him. He and/or his manager contact Duva, offer to pay so he can be featured on her card. She agrees. She then has to cut a check for the $1.00 minimum per legal requirements.

I see no problem here. Obviously if it was Duva's fighter, or if he was an opponent of a fighter of hers and she shafted him out of a purse, that would be a different scenario (and entirely messed up), but being that Fonfara just wanted to be on HER card so bad, and team Fonfara arranged all this, there isn't an issue.

lol well they're not accusations, they're fact I'm afraid. He fought an American fighter by the name of Skylar Thompson and TKO'd him. Afterwards he tested positive and the result was ruled an NC. It's on Fonfara's boxrec.

What may be a low ball offer to him may not be considered as such to others. Maybe he's on a high horse after beating Chavez lol who knows. I gotta take a look at the offer.
