Montiel was an exceptional fighter at bantam and super fly but he is old now, has taken some beatings and is not a featherweight worth mentioning. Anyway, expected soft touch for a first title defence, I hope the next fight is better.

Sorry about that last comment, just tired of one round KOs and tough Mexican losers (that is not a slam against Mexican fighters, just mismatches like this one). Selby v Jason Velez would be a better fight, no need to fight a monster, just competition. Island warfare, on the continent, no PR ref this time, but Velez would probably OK a UK ref if he got the shot.

It's one step forward, two steps back for every PBC fighter it seems.
The PBC builds zero momentum for their fighters. Most fights lead to absolutely nothing in the next fight. It's ridiculous

So guys like Frampton & Selby fight in front of big crowds in their respective regions of the UK and then Haymon brings them over to some obscure south west venue in the US for meaningless fights? Nevermind putting them on one of his NY shows. Wonder where Eubank and DeGale will be fighting?
Hearn's probably just as anxious for Waddell & Reed to pull the plug as GB & TR.
