barrera, being with main events, is surely being groomed as a future kovalev opponent, right? why would they risk him against one of their rival's rising stars?

Beterbiev should stay busy. A fight every two months.

Pascal surely is going to decide right? I mean he can probably rematch kov right now

I think Pascal beats Beterbiev, or atleast it's a much closer fight than going straight into another Kovalev fight. He'll just get another bad beating from Kovalev, the kind that could have after effects in his life. Beterbiev is slower, less refined, Pascal would have more opportunity in that fight. It would also be a big event in Montreal, with Haymon involved probably even more money than for Kovalev.

I read an article like a few weeks ago that said he should be able to start training in a couple of weeks. Who knows if that is true.
It also said he should be back in the ring in early 2016. It doesn't sound like the injury was too bad, but we have to wait and see. Anytime surgery is needed I wouldn't say it's not too bad.
Hopefully it all goes well and he'll come back in good shape.
Pascal had surgery before the Dawson fight and his shoulder doesn't seem to bother him anymore. From what I heard his injury was much worse than Artur's. The same Surgeon operated both Jean and Artur, from what I understand.
Hopefully he comebacks in good shape is all we can hope for.

              3 Bernard Hopkins
              4 Erik Skoglund
              5 Isaac Chilemba
              6 Andrzej Fonfara
              7 Sean Monaghan
              8 Jean Pascal
              9 Sullivan Barrera
              10 Nadjib Mohammedi
              11 Edwin Rodriguez
              12 Eleider Alvarez
              13 Thomas Williams Jr.
              14 Igor Mikhalkin
              15 Karo Murat

Alvarez would be good, so would several others such as Barerra, Monaghan, Williams Jr or Pascal.
If it's an eliminator and considering two of the top 4 have turned him down and Hops is out, it should be Fonfara but knowing Haymon it will probably be Mohammedi or Murat.

If you follow Artur on social media, he has some updates.. mostly training videos. So I guess he's back on track, it's only a matter of time before they choose an opponent for him to decimate

Any news on Beterbiev? He went from the hottest rising prospect to off the radar.

I had a thread a few weeks ago asking same Q.

Someone told me he has had a shoulder injury (IIRC), but should be back this summer

Cant remember if there was a source to go with that
