It's OK for an exciting fight like Alvarez-Cotto they can afford to put some crap fights on the undercard. Andre Turd is kind of an extreme case but Jay Z will probably fork over Alvarez's pay to get that slug on a real fight card

Golden Boy doesn't really have any other stars to add to the show, so Ward is obviously the co-feature; will then come down to what type of money Roc Nation is willing to commit to the show as lead promoter. For $2m, RocNation can make all six of the proposed matchups.

Ward would love that list, these are the type of opponents he asks HBO for.

Golden Boy does have one or two opponents, Bernard Hopkins being one of them but then they never wanted to fight each other.

Looking at the possible, realistic opponents for that date it won't be anyone impressive but I'd be happy with him on there, not like we're likely to get a great undercard for this one so having Ward on there would be a plus compared to this usual overprotected-prospect vs past-prime journeyman matchups.

Ward will demand that his fight be the main event with Canelo-Cotto being the co-main event and that he be allowed to fight in Oakland with the PPV being a split telecast.

Oh, and he will want the same money that Cotto is making as well.

They said they were considering him on the undercard, not necessarily on the televised portion. Gabe Rosado would do better with the audience than Andre Ward. RN is going to lose another $2mill on Ward's next fight unless they can find a legit opponent that HBO is willing to pay for. Put him in with Perriban so the Mexican fans can show a little interest.


TR used to put Rigondeaux on Pac undercards to help build Rigo up with the fans. It backfired to a degree because most fans found him boring.
