I'd take him in more serious regard, to be the GOAT he'd have to do many things differently in his career to how he did it.

• Insist on fighting Canelo at 154lbs, not accepting the catchweight
• Fight prime Shane Mosley
• Fight Manny Pacquiao 6 to 4 years ago
• Gave Oscar Dela Hoya the rematch which many thought Oscar won, including Floyds father
• Fight Amir Khan
• Have less irrelevant fights like Ortiz, JMM (never was a WW, rushed up to 147) Guerrero and then obviously Berto

If he did just that alone he'd have every right to call himself the best ever but fact of the matter is he didn't take every chance to fight every possible opponent which is totally unlike Muhammad Ali, Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard and all the other true greats.

Look what happened when SRL fought Duran at his best, this is part of the reason why Floyd might feel the need to wait and cherry pick his way, he doesn't belong with the greatest of all time he belong alongside Marciano, Joe Calzaghe and Sven Ottke.
With the time Floyd has wasted he could have added a good few more legitimate names on his record, there are certainly many I'm failing to mention his resume is now on par with Manny Pacquiaos imo but neither belong with the very top guys.

p4p they do have better resume, but the p4p evaluation isn't real. martin murray would beat everybody on berto's resume, without any trouble.

I have in the past once said Floyd needs to beat Hatton (without ref help in the Uk) SSM, DLH and Pac to be mentioned as and ATG and alongside SRL and Ali etc. But that was only to bribe Floyd to fight and take some tests. But you should know beating Hatton at a weight he never looked great, a old SSM and DLH will never make anyone as good as Ali, so you should have known I was dangling the carrot in front of Floyd to try and get him off of his backside.

I had to say it at that point, as it was a time when Floyd dithered a lot and didn't fight much. It was when he took breaks and lays and retirements. I had to give him an incentive to actually fight, dangle the carrot in front of him so to speak.

Floyd has made his case. But he will be judged over time not at this moment. Once he is away from the sport for a few years or perhaps a decade his record will be analyzed without the emotions that his personality often evokes.

He's going to be a universally accepted top 10 fighter, maybe even top 5. For some he will be top 3 or even the best ever. His record speaks for itself.
