No. Floyd gives you the jab to create counter punching opportunities. Hearns jab was long, quick and powerful.

I don't see how Floyd can win this one.

      Hearns wasn't one dimensional offensively.

I say that if Maidana and Mosely could touch Floyd, Hearns would have a pretty good shot of doing so as well.

And neither one could crack like Hearns.

Floyd is in trouble in this one. It's not a knock against him. The whole of the '47 division gets destroyed if you drop a Hearns in the division today.

People always look to the wrong fights when considering style matchups.

Simply look back to Thomas Hearns vs Wilfredo Benitez, and then consider that Floyd is longer than Benitez, while also being quicker of foot with similar defensive awareness.

Hearns is going to have to chase down Floyd all night, while Floyd works his in/out jab and nits points throughout.

If Benitez can push Hearns to a majority decision, why do folks simply assume that Floyd would get blown out?

No. One of floyds greatest strength is to dictate the pace of a fight and make it a boxing match even against brawlers and volume punchers he can do that. I think hearns would still be effective against floyd at any pace.

Hearns beats floyd. But that doesnt means his better overall.

I'll take floyd against leonard, duran at 147

if Tommy was at 47 today, everyone else would drain themselves to 40 or eat their way to 54

Floyd would have had problems in this one. Probably more so than with any other ATG at 147.

Exactly this , he'd clean out the WW division. I shudder to think what he'd do to glass jaw Khan with that right hand.

Larry, do you think Floyd would have been offensive minded enough to beat Hearns on points?
I think being more defensive would do him justice, make Hearns ovrwork himself which hitting him with accurate shots,Make Hears use his legs and frustrate him

Floyd is tougher then ya'll give him credit for and smarter, like i said sure Hearns could win but Floyd also has a shot

Sure Hearns is an ATG and could very well win, hell he would be the favorite

Any opponent of Floyd's has had their offense nullified by Floyd and if he could use his legs enough he would have a shot. Another advantage Floyd would have on Hearns was that Hearns was in his early 20's when he was at 147, Floyd would have been smarter than the 147 version of Hearns. Hearns would have been sticking that jab all night though.

Benitez is the only pure boxer that made hearns work for the win

                      Obviously pbf ain't knocking out **** @ 147 unless its 05-07 Floyd

He would trouble hearns...unless he fights the perfect fight, hearns is gonna win

Being a natural defensive fighter will be his undoing unless he comes in with the mind set he had against hatton, gatti, ndo, g. Hernandez, marquez, and Judah.....mix skills, defense n aggression

He ain't potshotting hearns....it's crazy cause IMO, we haven't seen pbf pushed to limit to foce a ko...ala Leonard, Whitaker-hurtado, toney-nunn etc
