I was talking about the MW title and quite frankly, I could care less about Margarito once he was caught. He shouldn't have cheated, he wouldn't have gotten hosed in negotiations then. It's not excuse for Marg anyway, he had one fight at 154, dropped down to 150 for Manny and 153 for Cotto. He had been a WW prior to that, it did nothing to drain him stop making excuses.

And... like I say about all CW's, it's no one's fault but the guy who accepts the fight. If you say yes, then there isn't an issue, you agreed. It's not like you said 160 and the night before it's 157 all of a sudden. Happened to Cotto with Manny and I dealt with it, you should learn to do the same. But da title doe? Hopkins defended it at 156 against Oscar, Cotto not the first or the last.

Hopkins is a bad example. He didn't demand the CW, Oscar did. I can't think of another guy that demanded a CW multiple times to defend his belt

do you not understand that different fights warrant different concessions? Do you think Cotto would give GGG the same money split that he is giving Canelo? Of course not, because its a different fight, with different leverage, and different considerations. If Cotto does not offer GGG the same split Canelo is getting, does that mean Cotto is a duck? No. It simply means its a different fight, with different details. Chavez and Froch brought MONEY to the dance, so a catchweight was a non-starter. Ward brings nothing at all to the dance, so GGG is the one with the leverage.

I am on record many times with my disgust of catchweights, period. If GGG-Ward were to ever happen, I hope it would be at 168, so the Ward stans would have no excuses afterwards. That being said, if K2-GGG want to use weight as a negotiating tool to get more money, or the venue of choice, then im fine with that, as long as the fight itself ends up at 168.

But sadly we do not know where the negotiations could have went, because Ward/Roc never countered. K2 threw out 50-50 revenue split at 164 as a first offer, and that was the end of it. Crickets from Ward. No reply. No counter offer, NADA. So nobody knows what might have come of it.

There was no response because there was never any offer. Why do people have such a problem understanding this? All it was, was a comment made to Rafael by Loeffler during an interview. It was not an offer to Ward and his camp, was never intended to be an offer and was never said to be an offer by Loeffler or anyone else.

It was simply another comment made to an interviewer that was blown way out of proportion to the point where it gained a life of it's own.

Did K2 say "164 or no fight"? No, they did not say that. They threw out a first offer of "50-50 at 164" that was not countered or replied to in any way by Ward/Roc.

Arent you the least bit curious as to why there was no counter offer? Why didnt Ward reply with "50-50 at 168"? Instead all we got was crickets

Actually, I like this particular Sanchez video. He makes sense here. Everyone in boxing is playing the same game -- angling for advantage, and customizing the particulars of a fight deal to each prospective opponent.

He's got a great point. Ward wanted to fight Floyd at 160. Why not fight GGG at 164? Fair enough.
