    1) Because he's charismatic. You have it or you don't. Tyson would randomly quote Nietzche in interviews, was visited in prison by Maya Angelou, etc...The guy had some depth. Name me one thing that Floyd has ever said that indicates that he has any intellectual curiosity. I'll ruin the ending for you--nothing. Floyd is an incredible athlete, and nothing more. He's at least smart enough to surround himself with smart people.
    &
    2) For the same reason that GGG & Rhonda Rousey are growing in popularity right now. It's not just the heavyweights. Any man whose punches are that concussive is going to induce fear in the division--and attract audience attention. If Floyd ended most of his fights the way he effectively ended Hatton's career, then he'd be in contention for GOAT status.
Let GGG start hugging, holding, slipping punches, and winning on points, and you'll see his mystique die quickly.
Simply put, if a large majority of Tyson's fights went 12 rounds, he'd be a convicted, unknown rapist in prison for 25+ right now.

His only notable wins were against razor ruddock and spinks. He lost every big fight he was in BADLY. HES A CONVICTED RAPIST yet talks with such pride and authority and the boxing community sucks him off wtf.

We show him more respect then floyd and manny yet those two are fare superior to him in every aspect.

The ****er lost against danny williams ffs. I honestly dont get it.

Can someone explain it to me. Hes not great at all. whats the fuss all about?
Because Tyson is a cool ass dude.
Because Tyson is a real ass dude.
Because Tyson didnt **** that girl..
            Because Tyson owned a tiger.
Because Tyson was a bad ass dude.
Because Tyson was exciting to watch.
Because Tyson fights were not boring and didnt make you sleepy.

            Floyds just a bltch.
            Floyds a coward.
            Floyds a puszy.
            Floyd threatened his own kids.
Floyd beats women and condones it.
            Floyds a racist.

Because he was vicious in ring, the only boxer who had no problem to kill you in the ring, and he didn't fake it, it was real himself.

I think Muhammed Ali and Tyson are the biggest icons of American boxing, everyone outside boxing circles, even those who have never watched a single round of boxing know them.

No one Knows/cares about Louis, SRR, SRL,DLH, ..... etc.

IDK Foreman was a psychotic MoFo in those early days before he became Mr Cuddly selling grills.

Boxing is always a "niche" sport unless the HW division is popping. Tyson was the epitome of what people want in a HW, therefore he will go down as a legend..

I'm pretty sure May/Pac shattered all revenue records for any single day sporting event. They fought at 147 pounds. Both of them together would only outweigh Tyson by 50 pounds.
This myth about the heavyweight division mattering most is horse ****. People just nod along bc it makes superficial sense. Careful analysis shows you that any sport becomes globally compelling when you have two compelling figures facing off. This is such a rare occurrence, and it can't be manufactured.
