Toney was one hell of a fighter at his best. Sucks to see this, but it happens far too often. The best often take way too long to realize how far they've fallen.

Like TMT said, light heavy should have been his limit although he embarrassed Holyfield.

His dismantling of Jirov was awesome.

Definitely tarnished his legacy by being a big steroid user though. If he'd stayed at 168-175 he might not have felt he needed the PEDs.

maybe would not have beat jirov without PED's. I say he would have lost without them

Freddie Roach once said James Toney was the most talented guy he had ever trained. He said if Toney had more discipline he would have been the greatest fighter ever. Its sad his career is ending this way. He's probably broke and from his speech seems to be suffering from brain damage.

toney should'nt have ever blown up that big. light heavy shou'd've been as far up with his frame.

He wasn't that bad of a HW but he just let himself go. At CW he had to have discipline to make weight. Once he didn't have to make weight he just stopped training..

Roach told him to retire after the 2nd Peter fight. He said Toney was getting hit by punches he use to avoid. I always enjoyed watching him fight.
