Mike Tyson even in his biggest fights never reached 2 Million. Mayweather has surpassed 2 Million 3 times, twice as the A side.
If Mike Tyson came along today in the age of the internet, social media and 24/7 his PPV numbers would make Floyd's look feeble in comparison. Both in America and all around the world. It is freaken lunacy to believe any different.

The mystique of Tyson in his day was a whole other level to anything that Floyd has achieved.

So surely common sense tells us that it has more to do with Floyd.
Floyd can't even crack just a mill without them. Most Ppl just tune to see him lose.

So how come nobody else is cracking 2 mil with anyone else?

Star power tested? Floyd doesn't give a flying fuck anymore. He's getting paid $32 million guaranteed anyway. He could fight Rod Salka and still get paid $32 million. Why do you think he chose Berto if he was looking for ppv star power?

And the only reason why Floyd did 2 million+ for 3 fights was because of Floyd AND the other guy. Oscar is a superstar, Canelo is a superstar, Pacquiao is a megastar.

The 2 million number has to do with more people having exposure to PPV and PPV being now more widely available on a global scale. The 1.5 million of Tyson isn't even his biggest PPV buyrate but let's take that and scale that up to what is possible via global PPV now, the number would easily surpass 2 million.

Anyway, it's ridiculous arguing with someone who is trying to sell the idea that somehow Mayweather is a bigger global attraction than Mike Tyson.

Iron Dan, go back to slurping that Pretty Boy poontang.
Exactly - not only Tyson either, Foreman-Holyfield doing 1.4 in 1991 is more impressive than doing 2.4 today to me, 1991!!! I was a kid through the 90's and Holyfield was just as popular as Mayweather is now and Tyson was certainly more popular, world is just a different place. Advancements in television, social media, population growth, etc. You can now order a fight from your remote control, in the past you had to call up and wait on the line, hopefully get through to an operator, and you were still ****ting yourself until the channel actually came up, as it didn't always work and you would have to call back.

I think Cotto-Canelo will do 1-1.2 if it comes off, so does that make those guys bigger than these names before? No it doesn't, the buy rate for an average ppv has just gone up over time.

Just for the record - Floyd Mayweather's numbers against Manny Pacuqiao has never been a comparison which reflects that well on Floyd Mayweather. I don't know why Mayweather fans use this as some kind of victory.

Floyd Mayweather an American fighter, undoubtedly the best American fighter of a generation (arguably ever), fighting in America. Am I the only simple guy here that thinks he should outsell the Filipino fighting in America. Even if you take into consideration that Pacquiao is an ATG and world star, he should not outsell Floyd Mayweather in America, ever!! The fact is no matter how you twist the numbers, if you just consider nothing but chronology, Pacquiao was on ppv first (which is surprising in itself) and since 2005 that the numbers are pretty even for the most part, Floyd doing a much bigger number with Oscar is the only real big difference on like for like opponents. Obviously Manny's numbers in Macau were also not as strong.

I'd be blown away if Jr. did decent numbers considering his horrendous choice in opponent and an undercard that I'm still unaware of but will not change my mind about viewing this.

Jr. either A.) has a superior fanbased opponent or B.) has a stacked undercard with fights that should steal the main event's thunder

Jr. on his own, who the hell would pay to see that???

And how much do they do without Floyd?

What's Canelo numbers without Floyd? Has he done 500k yet?

                  What's Pacquaio's numbers without A dance partner?

Did Oscar crack a Million every time?

Floyd did over a million with Victor Ortiz and did a million with Marquez which at the time was considered a complete joke of a fight and mismatch.

Let's stick to the facts, the only 3 PPV's that have ever hit 2 Million invlve Floyd. It's as simple as that. No more needs to be said.

                  He's Oscar's biggest fight, he's Canelo's biggest fight, he's Pacquaio's biggest fight, hes Cotto's biggest fight, he's Mosley's biggest fight.

These guys hit their highest numbers when they fight Floyd. Why? Because Floyd is the biggest draw. He's the common demnomintaor in all of these fights.

Whether they tune in to see him lose is irrelevant.

lol, just the facts. Its crazy how people will still try to argue this guy's drawing power. He is clearly the most powerful boxers in the sport and one of the mozt powerful draws in the history of ppv, yet people will still make ******ed arguments go refute this. Mind boggling stuff.

I would say around 500k. But just like his other fights that didn't crack a million, the official numbers won't be released. This is the worst fight he has taken since his showtime deal.
