Looking at previously reported PPV numbers I think this will be Mayweather's 4th lowest PPV sales ever. Big gap between 3rd (375k) & 4th (900k) rn that I could see this fitting right in the middle of.

Assuming 400k buys @ 75 bucks a pop thats still $30M in revenue which still puts him on top of the hill cuz I believe most others are selling their PPV's for lower or selling less or both as of late. Not sure how much the GGG vs Lemieux PPV will go for, but I'd imagine $50 give or take so they are gonna need more buys to beat out the real important number which is revenue. I suspect Cotto vs Canelo will generate more revenue than Mayweather vs Berto, but **** if they fighting over the color of the ring who even knows if thats gonna be made at this point. Plus it'll be a couple months removed from Mayweather's alleged last fight so it won't be a kick in Mayweather's balls as much anyway.

    Top 5 - Pacquiao (4.4M), De La Hoya (2.4M), Alvarez (2.2M), Cotto (1.5M) & Mosley (1.4M)
    Middle 4 - Ortiz (1.25M), Marquez (1.06M), Guerrero (1M) & Maidana II (925k)
    Bottom 5 - Baldomir (325k), Gatti (340k), Judah (375k), Maidana I (900k) & Hatton (920k)

I just grabbed em from Wikipedia. Didn't check the legitness of the numbers via the notes, but they got references notes links you can check out & agree or disagree with.

I think it well be an average seller for him. I voted for 500 to 750. He gets a minimum of 30 million no matter how it sells if I understand his Showtime deal correctly. It could be his last fight and lots of people will want to see it live. It should be an OK fight while it lasts but there will probably be lots of wrestling. Believe it or not Berto is the number 1 challenger for his WBA title. I'll watch it for free the next weekend.

I think a big problem is opponent selection at the weights Roy was at. You gotta leapfrog over a previous PPV guy or name to really take off. Or be a HW. You probably noticed the HW fight vs Ruiz was his biggest fight. But who exactly was he supposed to become a PPV star against? Toney was coming up with him pretty much. Eric Harding wasn't ****. Tarver hadn't done anything & that was later in his career. There wasn't a PPV star map for Roy to even follow to get there.

This is why I think the concept of GGG as a PPV star is a lost cause. Kovalev too. There is one or two interesting opponents, but no built in star for GGG or Kov to beat. Hell to most people GGG & Kov are already the stars of their division & I can't argue with that take. Ward still isn't really THAT much of a star, he hasn't even had a PPV fight yet, he's just a P4P guy. What do you built off of if you're GGG or Kov to become Oscar, Floyd or Manny?

Other than that Tyson's big numbers were when he had a dance partner (like all big PPV events)

Mike Tyson even in his biggest fights never reached 2 Million. Mayweather has surpassed 2 Million 3 times, twice as the A side.
Floyd came outta prison, didn't do 1.5 million.

The 2 million number has to do with more people having exposure to PPV and PPV being now more widely available on a global scale. The 1.5 million of Tyson isn't even his biggest PPV buyrate but let's take that and scale that up to what is possible via global PPV now, the number would easily surpass 2 million.

Anyway, it's ridiculous arguing with someone who is trying to sell the idea that somehow Mayweather is a bigger global attraction than Mike Tyson.

Iron Dan, go back to slurping that Pretty Boy poontang.

I'm interested to see what this fights #s are.

Since Floyd signed that Showtime contract he's essentially been competing against himself.

Yeah because going to prison to 2 months is the same as going to prison for 3 years

Exposure to PPV was eaisly available back then what are you talking about?

Who's the bigger global attraction I don't know but I do know that Mayweather is a bigger PPV draw in America. The numbers are right there.
