Khan was trying to use Mayweather-Pacquiao as an example and even bandied around the figure of 100million.

So are you going to continue to make excuses for Khan until it reaches that figure?

His point would make sense if it was a Brit facing an American.

Brook definitely has to grow his profile in America to make fights against the likes of Garcia, Thurman and Bradley viable.

Let me break down the timeline

fall 2014 brook beats porter and becomes a legit player at welter..

2015- khan will wait for a floyd fight, brook should have stayed really active.. The fight wasn't getting made in 2015, so in the meantime instead of fighting jo jo dan, brook should have fought 3 or 4 times vs guys like soto karass, rios, marquez, etc......

2016- springtime its khan/brook in wembley with the world interested in it, just not UK and hardcore non UK fans


Im not saying they should wait five years.. my whole point is from the porter win to spring 2016, brook should have been fighting guys with some name recognition...

witter/hatton would have been huge in the UK,,, Hatton/khan would have been huge everywhere...

had brook fought better names since the porter fight, the spring 2016 fight with khan would have been even bigger...

Khan can get away with being inactive because he is already a star... Brook needed to reach true stardom to make the fight even BIGGER,, and he had all of 2015 to do that and has not

Brook has only effectively been back since late March this year. Jo Jo Dan was his mandatory who he had to fight or be stripped of the belt. Gavin happened about 8 weeks later - couldn't get a huge name on that notice.

Effectively Brook has been active only 4 months since winning the title, not a year.

Khan is a star? In what sense? Khan's popularity has waned on both sides of the Atlantic.

Once again, if Khan-Brook isn't big enough for you then no welterweight fight is.

Brook and hearn could have waited a little bit longer and put on a later show to get a decent opponent. Or added Brook to the next northern show and get a more credible/well known name than Frankie Gavin.

Amir Khan is a British Pakistani who fights out of America (mostly)

Amir Khan's main revenue is from the American broadcasters, sponsers and gate fees .

Brook is largely unknown in America, so from Amir Khans perspective the fight could be a lot bigger if Brook fought a few credible opponents.

An Algeri fight next would be interesting.
