look at some of the guys records that Ali fought as champ, Ray Robinson, and others have and they fought guys waaaay worse than Berto

honestly i don't see a huge difference between berto and porter. . if they fight i would bet that a war breaks out. . so why is berto a bum but porter isn't.

I didn't say Porter was elite - just more deserving than Berto. His win over Broner is more impressive than anything Berto has done in 4 years, no? He has 3 wins in less than 2 years against fighters who were ranked top 10 in weight class at the time. berto has 0

When Khan moved up I was as many were concerned about his punch resistance as we all know what happened in the two lighter divisions and with Amir it's one excuse after another so we can only go on what's happened ...the facts.
Amir says that his punch resistance has got better with weight but as you would have seen against feather fisted Algieri he was more than stunned on a couple of occasions. Can you not picture Floyd timing Khan as he runs in throwing his combo's ? or do you think that Floyd has not got this talent ?
I don't think Berto is anything to get excited about but I do feel he's tested lots more at the weight and will be able to stay in there much longer than I ever thought Khan would ..........I think Khan v Floyd would be just embarrassing.
Let's be serious here Khan handpicked Algieri and it back fired this was HIS statement fight and it went wrong,had Floyd picked Khan don't you think the same people would be saying how could he ?

Yes, Khan picked Algieri for a reason, we know that. But, Algieri actually looked good and fought impressively in that fight. I think that was more of a case of Algieri exceeding expectations that Khan fighting poorly.
And, no, the same people would not all be criticizing the Khan pick. There will always be people that complain no matter what. smart boxing fans and insiders all agree that Khan would have a better chance of winning than Berto. Khan is just a better boxer, plain and simple. better footwork, better defense, and at this point in their careers, probably faster than Berto.
BTW, nice for you to at least admit that Berto isn't anything to get excited about. lol.

Robinson fought, what app 175 times, a little different. and again, I said this earlier, If mayweather was fighting o CBS or Showtime, it would make more sense. But when you charge $75 for your fight, you have some type of duty to take a challenge against someone that has a legitimate shot of winning. that wasn't done here, and there's really no defending it - although you guys are trying so hard !!! lol

are you really comparing the horrible sanctioning bodies with ring and transnational?
*edit* in addition, the sanctioning bodies have made some REALLY bad # 1 contenders. Choosing Pacquiao as 1 of them, is not an example of some ridiculously fraudulent rankings system considering most independent rankings had him still ranked as the #2 or 3 welterweight in he world

This isn't supposed to be a super fight. It's like someone staying busy. Why can't Floyd be in a regular fight? All the greats fought guys like this. Oscar did it, Manny did it and you can go back with Ali and other fighters. You can't fight a top number 1 guy every fight. You guys expect him to. Did anyone say anything about Manny fighting no name Algieri?
