they only take it to purse bids because they know that it makes the fight impossible. let's see what they do if hryunov or ryabinsky swoop in and outbid them... they will withdraw again, like in the quillin situation. pbc does not have the moral highground in this scenario. main events want the fight, they just can't afford it. pbc don't want the fight and just use their superior financial clout to sabotage it

Predictable response from you.
The fight can be made right now with a fair offer and a chance to win the titles instead of fighting in a meaningless eliminator to get right back to what he was just offered.
Beterbiev has NO exclusive TV contract and could fight on HBO without issue.
Just another case of them hiding behind Haymon hoping for a purse bid and hoping Kovalev will vacate.
Yeah we saw what Haymon made Quillen do, I'm sure it was a wise "buisness" decision to you in that case lol. We all know your angle, it's clear as day who you support. You'd rather see fights play out behind closed doors then when offered in the ring when certain en****** are involved.
The situation is not different technically just because you say "exclusive network deal". At the end of the day it depends on HBO to let him fight on another channel if the other half wins the pursue bid or not. AS in Quillin's case it was Haymon's choice at the end of the day.
There are two interests. They both make fights for living (Haymon/PBC) (Duva/HBO Boxing), it's ridiculous to blame a half for want to live with their right to try to make a better offer than the other and bring the fight under their network/interest.
Things start to get messed up when the other half let that be Haymon or HBO get mad and act like a bitter loser and don't let his fighter to fight on another channel instead make him vacate which is bad for the fighter.
Yeah it's clear who I support or more precisely who I don't support. I don't support the half who makes his fighter vacate because he is salty that his fighter have to fight on another channel. Let that be Haymon or HBO. And I also don't support double standard fans as many of you.
I don't want it to played out behind close doors I just think it's a nonsense to blame Haymon in this situation just because he wants to live with his opportunity to make this fight. You act like HBO wouldn't have the same opportunity.Comment

Artur is from Chechnya and chechenian president Akhmat Kadyrov is very rich (he probably has more money than Al Haymon, Bob Arum and Ryabinsky together) and a huge fan of the sport, you could see him at every moscow boxing event in the audience. It would be a HUGE fight in Russia. There are already thousands comments on Kovalev's page in "vkontakte"(russian analog of facebook), where fans of Sergey and Artur talking **** to each other. This fight is similar to Cotto vs Canelo.Comment

How will they get more money the same thing will happen with the last purse bid attempt Kovalev can't fight outside hbo. Meaning no fight is happening so nobody is getting paid. For the one million time this is not about money if it were then what side just turned down a career payday? If it were about money then why didnt Quillen fight for Roc Nation? It's about using the purse bid leverage to force Kovalev to vacate the belt. Haymon want to use politics to gift his fighter a vacate belt rather then earn it by beating the champ.Comment

And fighting on HBO occasionally and having an exclusive contract like GGG and Kovalev are 2 different things and you're smart enough to know HBO is not going to let a huge fight just walk to another network with someone who they "own" involved.Comment

Laughing Haymon suckups talking out both sides of their @SS defending Stevenson Position saying it's about one side turning down a career payday. Now in here where Haymon is advising his fighter to turn down a career payday and a direct shot at the title now that point is irrelevant? If you defending both these moves it's clear you just have an agenda. This is not good for boxing and a sad day where any fan celebrates the most obvious and transparent politic move to kill a fight so they can win a belt by vacate.
Don't give me the he is too young crap. Dude is 30 and been calling out Kovalev forever. And his side is not trying to get more experience and fight Kovalev 2 years from now. They are using this scheme to wait a few months to force the vacate.Comment

Most of the time it's beneficial to the B side to agree to terms before a purse bid.
Look at what happened to N'Dam, the guy turned down 6 figures for a Lemieux fight then got absolutely screwed by the purse bid and made peanuts.
But it's obvious in this case that's what they're aiming for, to outbid Duva, and hope Kovalev drops the titles. Worse case, somehow they accept, and the fight is on PBC and Haymon wins anyway regardless.
And make no mistake, I want to see the fight. I'm just sick of guys hiding behind managers/promoters when fights could clearly get made like this one.Last edited by Jsmooth9876; 08-06-2015, 07:25 AM.Comment

Disagree... If that were the case we'd see many more fights going to purse bid.

I just don't get it. **** promoters. **** networks. Get the 2 top dogs in the division, have a bid, and the highest bidder gets exclusive rights to the fight. It's the most perfect solution to every problem in boxing right now.Comment
