It's just a split in the sport, we're the ones who miss out on the fight.

yawn beterbiev is 30, a zillion amateur fights & 2 time olympian, claims he has Kovalev's number from an amateur fight, can't wait to kick his ass again

he isn't waiting for anything he's just managed by the same GYM/Haymon interests as Stevenson

      bawk bawk

              OK well maybe next year

Sucks for Kovalev more because he really doesn't have any good options available

iirc they also agreed in principal to the chilemba fight but pulled out in the eleventh hour... sounds like someone in the camp doesn't have full confidence in beterbiev's abilities. apparently his trainer is also the main matchmaker for gym...

With a purse bid they would have to give Kovalev 75-25 split. Meaning they would have to likely overpay to make that fight happen in order to make it worthwhile for Beterbiev.

Instead they could reach an agreement where Beterbiev might get 35-40 of the split. Which is a lot more favorable than 25.

Kov doesn't have to vacate-he can defend. He resigned to HBO AFTER he pulled out of the Stevenson purse bid. He f-cked himself!

Bieterbiev's promoter has more resources. why should he negotiate in a way that lowers his client's purse? even you can see that makes no sense.

Sorry dude but this is Boxing Darwinism-survival of the fittest. either duva gets her money up or gets devoured, simple as that.
I think you guys are reading this wrong. Beterbiev is not Stevenson. If he believes he can beat Kovalev and actually wants to fight him, on HBO if necessary, then why would he try and **** the fight up by pulling the Superduck trick and forcing a purse bid?

That's the smart move. Absolutely nothing wrong with this reasoning.

In a perfect world, Kovalev/Stevenson would happen and then the winner would fight Beterbiev.
