Well...........add Berto, then equate them to David Diaz, Brandon Rios, Chris Algieri, Fahsan Battery, Hector Velasquez (lost 10 times)..........

Mayweather has beaten the best that would fght him from 130-140, then fought a couple warm-ups while waiting for Judah, who then last to Baldo, then beat them both for good measure. Since then, starting with Oscar, has essentially fought the best competition of any fighter over the same span. Andre Berto, in two wars with Ortiz and Guerrero, which were NOT blow-outs, then had a bad lapse vs a very tough Karass..........

Whatever you want to say about Berto, the dude has speed and can crack. Something that could not have been said of any Manny opponent after being KO'd by Marquez except for Floyd himself........whom he could do nothing with........even if he had three good arms the fight would have largely been the same.........

Give it up. Floyd's first 'gimme' since Baldomir. That's almost 10 years without fighting a stiff. Give him some credit. Berto may not be the best opponent available this time......but he's better than anyone Khan or Pacquiao have beaten (with Bradley being the lone exception).

He has fulfilled his contract needs, Showtime will be well into the black regardless of what happens in this fight....and I don't think anyone has any room to talk. Floyd is one of the few who didn't do the 'every other fight' game like most........one tought fight, one tomato can, tought fight, tomato can........hasn't done that since beating Judah actually........

I have no problem with a 38 year old, who just beat his biggest rival in what he made into a sparring session, going out with a fight like this. Berto will come to fight. He won't be scared. He'll get beat, but he's got the proverbial puncher's chance. Better than can be said of Algeri, that's for damn sure......

As for the 11 losses, be careful now.......Pac has 6.......take two or three of the Marquez figts a point here and there and he's at 9, and let's not forget Agapito Sanchez, a fight that was even when it was stopped by a cut that Pac was struggling in............that's 10........just sayin'..........

Besides, 10 losses means very little. Emanuel Augustus (aka Burton). RIP, was much better than his roughly 500 record and fought his heart out against Floyd and produced a great trilogy with Mickey Ward.......Orlando Salido should be HOF material as well and his record isn't shiny.........WHO CARES.

Floyd is taking one non-top 10 opponent after 9 years of dominating belt-holders. I think it can be forgiven. Lord knows Pacquiao has done his share......and so has literally everyone else but Lomanchenko (soon to be a real star, beaten by Salido) and before he's done, he will too.

But haters will hate. Pac fans.........just think of this as maybe he's protecting his record for when Pac is ready to be # 50 and take hope in that. Otherwise, talk about another fight.........nobody cares what you thnk anyway especially if you still can't accept defeat.........

Not for me, that was a bounce back fight after Pacquiao got KTFO so they were both coming off a loss and Rios had at least beaten Alvarado previously too.

I mean Berto has lost to Soto Karass and Ortiz ffs and has never beaten anyone better than Alvarado.

So beating a washed up laughing stock is better than beating a pretty solid fighter who still competes at a high level just because he lost? Haha heard it all now.

              • Geat Payday for Berto but hardly a fight

Hmmmm... Andre Berto?? And they said P.T.Barnum was good selling events. Thanks but no thanks. This is killing boxing having 5-6 titles per weight class then adding weight classes results in this crap. Mayweather can go 100-0 cherry picking fights and he STILL will go down as the fighter that may have been. Great self promoter but just a good fighter who should thank god he didn't come up in the 70's

                • lol! @ some of these guys that believe this is his last fight. Floyd's herding you like sheep. This fight is complete garbage and that's his way of trying to sell it.
Only a true fanboy would pay $70 to watch this crap.

Berto is not that bad, and I think this fight will be more entertaining than a lot of people are trying to make out.

Are there better fights out there for Floyd? Yes, probably but so what? There are almost always "better fights out there" for almost every fighter.

You really think it's that bad, vote with your wallet and don't buy the ppv! Do you really think Floyd cares at this stage in his career, with +$200m from his last fight and a $30m guarantee for this one?!
Exacly!! Berto has speed and can crack. He'll lose......but he'll try.

And if nobody buys........Showtime will still come out WAY ahead in their 6-fight deal. That's why he's fighting Berto as he pushes 39 instead of the 25-27 year old age bracket. And after what I saw with Khan vs Algieri, I don't think Khan deserves the fight considering he's done nothing but coast to UD's against a bunch of guys that are washed-up or feather-fisted. ALGIERI ARGUABLY BEAT KHAN!!!

Thurman, Porter, Brook, Andrade, etc., are in the next era. Nobody WANTED Louis to fight Marciano or Ali to fight Holmes. NOBODY wanted Chavez to fight Oscar or Tsyzu, NOBODY wanted Roy Jones to fight after the Glen Johnson fight, NOBODY wanted Robinson to fight after 38, Leonard was DESTROYED by a career feather-fisted 130 pound Camacho at 40 and NOBODY wanted him to take that fight after Norris destroyed him at 34 .......just another double standard.

Best P4P historical persepctive pre Floyd: Jones, Whitaker, Leonard, Ali, Robinson............with the exception of Ali and Robinson, all were done at 35 after taking some beatings and even those two had very little left at Floyd's age. All fighters dependent on speed and reflexes. Floyd has maintained...is he what he was when he was 28? Of course not. But he's been P4P #1 since Tarver's LH clocked Jones in 05/2004. That's Fighting for 19years, champion for 18 and p4p #1 for 11.5 years unless you want to split hairs about the mini-retirement. But he's the only fighter listed that wasn't beaten and has to regain the P4P #1 status at some point........

He's earned a chance to put on a showcase if he chooses and if he does, it will be against a guy that can punch. It truly is historic, like him or not.....he's the goods.

He's a great fighter in any era. 'TBE' no......unless you're talking about purse earnings. There are guys in virtually every decade he probably loses to at WW. Tommy Hearns comes to mind immediately.

But he will go down as a great fighter. And he should. So should Roy Jones. But because these guys were so much better than the rest of their respective era's, they will lose points for lack of quality opposition. But Floyd fought everyone that would fight him early in his career when he was the high risk, low reward. Then after beating Oscar, he fought EVERYONE........until now and Berto would likely have been in line right after Mosley anyway. He caught Ortiz on a rare good night or this fight probably would have already happened with Berto undefeated..........

I'm not giant fan of Mayweather. But there is no doubt he's a GREAT FIGHTER......only someone delusional or incapable of being objective would say he was only 'good'.......
