it was a premature stoppage, i gave malignaggi one or two rounds, the tide was turning in dannys favour but the ref should not stop the fight on that alone, even though malignaggi has no power, he could theroically have turned the fight around even though its very unlikely

Yes, I think champions should be let to go out on their shields despite the prospect of permanent brain injury or other serious injury. The ref should've let Paulie be beaten within inches of his life, because he was a champion.

Pascal had just been knocked down and was staggering along the ropes, could not stand straight and was glassy eyed. Paulie had not even been knocked down or caught in the corner. It was a premature stoppage.

Sarcasm aside, in the era of 2 belts, a champion definitely deserved every chance because the title was earned.

In this day and age being a champion doesn't require nearly the same thing it's a good idea need to adjust the standards for stoppage in a title fight.

I've always hated Paulee, long before he started to get jealous of Pacquiao. The guy is a clown, a walking hypocrite and a never has been (he was never good in the first place, his claim to fame was getting his ass beat by Cotto).

I think the opposite can be true. I remember a piece of commentary on the Pac - Barrera fight that said "no great should have to go through this" or something to that effect. That said, if you've proven yourself, you do deserve the benefit of the doubt.
