Considering Kovalev killed someone in the ring do you find him distasteful?

When a fighter talks of the harm they are going to put on their opponent, they do so without the knowledge that their fists caused a man's death. I don't think it is particularly savoury but it is easy to see that they distance themselves from the possibility of death. When someone has killed someone in the ring, they know what their fists have done in the past so their words carry more weight.

I am speaking openly and honestly on the matter. There's a reason why boxers who have killed their opponent typically become timid after the fact. Regardless of fault, human decency makes the guilt difficult to shake off. I'm actually happy that the experience didn't affect Kovalev's approach in the ring, but I'm not going to sit around and pretend his experience shouldn't have resulted in a bit more respect for the dangers of the sport.
There's no standard, right or wrong way to respond to this kind of incident. That's the nature of being human. Everybody's different and he surely treated it seriously. He is also friends with Magomed.

He probably doesn't openly speak about it because he doesn't think it's anyone's business, and frankly, it isn't.

As for Adonis, I agree, this was disrespectfull to all black men.

I'm normally able to separate "mistakes" a boxer may make outside the ring, but this is just different to me. I was a really huge fan too.

I don't believe Kovalev character should be on trial because of an incident that is a obvious fact in boxing; that is "you can die". Boxing has never been the sport for the faint of heart. Kovalev showed much respect to the opponent, even giving his purse to the family and praising the young man. Not to mention the young man was a warrior and fought one hell of a fight.

Many boxers have gone on record saying during they're prime, they were curious about what that would be like... Tyson, Foreman, McClellan and many more.

Please stop this soft sh..t! Simakov died because of taken massive beatdown for many rounds, because referee didn't stop the fight. There is a big difference between broken nose and death. People don't die from a broken nose.
When you are in a street fight, do you want to hurt your opponent? Of course. Do you want to beat him to death? Of course not. So Kovalev's attitude to boxing match is the same as to a street fight. And I don't see why we need to blame him for that.
Also if you remeber Pascal fight, it was Kovalev who pointed the referee attention to the dancing Paclale legs. If the referee hadn't seen it, the fight probably wouldn't have been stopped. So Kovalev took care about his opponent health, though he wanted to hurt him.

Its the nature of the sport, unfortunately it happens from time to time.

Credit to Kovalev for not letting it bother him, stuff like this is in the past and should stay in the past.

I'm not sure if I've posted it correctly, but in the video Kovalev jokes about killing Nathan Cleverly.Considering his prior history I believe that makes him a borderline psychopath. At about the 1:45 mark.

I don't mind it because I believe it's genuine. If I thought it was an act I would think it was in bad taste. Its just who he is. A mean guy with a mean streak who enjoys hurting people.
