Boxers are becoming more aware of their value and want to see more money for their work rather than let the networks and promoters get it all.

How can any true fan of the sport not be happy about boxers being more educated about the business?

Boxing is not the most booming industry. Many fighters are getting paid much more than their market value...which is still mostly a good thing, but it is not likely to last.

going by resumes at the weight, gonzalez is a clear 3rd place behind ruenroeng and estrada, but he seems content to just sweep up their leftovers instead of confronting them directly? gonzalez has only faced two guys at flyweight who hadn't lost at least once within their previous three fights, yaegashi and rodriguez jr. - meanwhile estrada has beaten five in the same space of time, including two out of three of gonzalez's touted opponents for his next fight, viloria and segura; and ruenroeng has beaten five fighters who hadn't lost within their previous five fights just since the start of 2014, including fuentes, whom gonzalez fought immediately afterwards, arroyo, the other potential opponent for gonzalez's next fight, and two unbeaten prospects in ioka and shiming. for gonzalez to justify his lofty p4p position, i need to see him take on the two main men in his division. yes, he beat estrada before, but that counts for nothing at flyweight

I'm all for "overcharging ni--as for what they did to the cold crush". I am pro worker, not pro management.

If we get back to the era where winning matters more than entertainment and winning bigger fights gets you more money than just being a personality, I am all for it.

during the 80's and early 90's winning was what was key. IMO once Tyson fought McNeely and it outsold all of Tyson's great matchups, industry people realized personality and not quality fights could sell on PPV it changed everything.

Winning over entertainment. If both guys do their best to win, entertainment takes care of itself.

No more Gabe Rosado's getting big TV fights just to bleed and lose. No more Kov/Mohammedi and Stevenson/Kaprency. No more Kirkland being out for 17 months than coming back to get a big fight. And of course, no more Garcia/Salka fights.

Selectively you can construct variables to make almost any argument but the fact is Gonzalez beat Estrada at jr. fly and Estrada's flyweight title fights - Viloria, Melindo, Segura and Asenjo (cupcake) are at best marginally better than Gonzalez' of Yaegashi, Fuentes and Sosa (who beat Segura, btw). IMO if you watch the beltholders fight it's clear who is #1, whether Gonzalaez is jumping to give Estrada a rematch or not.

People on here are acting like Gonzalez is a paper belt-holder like Braehmer or Stevenson, who repeatedly get paid to slap around stiffs and cupcakes in the ring. BS. None of the flyweight beltholders are regularly defending against softies and there is no reason Gonzalez shouldn't demand good money after holding title belts for seven years. He'd be ****** if he didn't.
