It's kinda sad how people are trying to justify this crap fight,and make it seem that it's somehow better than kovalevs last fight. No matter how you look at it,mohammedi was kovalevs mandatory,but this carpenter guy is ranked # 16 by the wbc,meaning that there is no reason for Stevenson to be fighting him.

It's not going to be that easy. The winner of that fight ends up in the mandatory position.... for Juergen Braehmers title. Not Kovalev's. They have to get the Regular title first before they can become the mandatory to face the Super Champion.

I haven't spent the time to work through the WBA's rules, but I sincerely doubt that to be the case. (Golovkin-Geale fight was almost derailed by the WBA arguing that Fletcher was due as mandatory).
