  • Comments Thread For: Kovalev Sees Andre Ward as Perfect Pay-Per-View Foe

Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, NV - BoxingScene.com caught up with WBA/WBO/IBF light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (28-0-1, 25KOs) after his lopsided third round knockout victory over Nadjib Mohammedi. With the victory over Mohammedi, Kovalev fulfilled his IBF mandatory obligation.

Kovalev said that he is open to facing any of the top opponents in the light heavyweight division. He also said that he would like to fight on pay-per-view and if super middleweight champion Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs) decides to move up in weight, he would be the perfect opponent for his PPV debut.

No fight is PPV worthy considering I have HBO and SHO strictly for boxing. But by today's standards, it doesn't get any bigger than Ward-Kovalev. At least fir the hardcore fans like myself.

Huh,that's true...maybe because he's going to a ppv unification with lemieux, then a ppv unification with the cotto-canelo winner. I guess you could say that he's going after cottos punk ass.

Not saying they can't do it, they can do it if they want.
Hopkins/Dawson was PPV, so nothign stopping this.

HBO have set a bit of a precedent now by putting Golovkin-Lemiuex on PPV.

This is a much bigger and better fight.

GGG doesnt need Ward, he has Cotto and Canelo.I think after Cotto beat Canelo we will see GGG vs Cotto on PPV at 160

if you look at tv ratings of Ward and Kovalev its clear people dont have interest to watch them on PPV.

Thats why GGG vs Lemiex is bigger than Kovalev vs Ward

Kovalev's ratings against Hopkins and Pascal were high. Ward's last couple of fights on HBO have drawn high ratings.

                    David Lemiuex is virtually unknown.
