Awesome if this one happens already. It makes for an even match IMO. A Russian superfight.

I look forward to this one in the future almost as much as Stevenson vs Kovalev. But Beterbiev needs more time, he needs to go atleast 15-17 wins before he can seriously consider taking on the champ.

Both has knockout punching power but Kovalev has more skills and experience. Beterbiev might have beaten twice in the amateur according to reports but that was sometime back and with head gear.

Kovalev has JDJ on his side too so got to side with him.

What made you think so? I don't remember him being hit flush by big puncher yet...

            Unpopular opinion here.
Beterbiev will obliterate Kovalev. More well rounded, can fight on the backfoot too, and he knows Kovalev exactly. He won't go in the ring shook like the likes of Muhammedi or Shillakh. He will go for the kill and he will beat up Kovalev from close range. I don't think that he needs much more experience. He is like 30 or so, he won't learn much more I think.

Never call a good "russian school" product a 'face first brawler' -- they maybe look like those, but they aren't...

Kovalev is not only the most devastating puncher in the sport today....IMO he's in the top 10 technical fighters also... Absolute machine.

He started his pro career only 2 years ago and got 9 fights in. History has shown us that amateur careers are not a guarantee for high level success in the pro's.

He is being brought along very well but he needs to fight some top contenders first. IMO a fight against Kovalev should be reserved untill about 2017.
