And it was made when both fighters had no other options. This will be the case here likely.

Wards options at SMW are garbage. Fedor Chudinov belongs at MW and lacks the ability to beat most of the other top SMW's. The PBC has some of Ward's best options. Given that's a no go, if he's willing to go up and really test 175, Pascal in Montreal would be a meaningful fight.

Most likely he defends his WBA title against a ho-hum contender:
          6. Patrick Nielsen
          7. Vincent Feigenbutz
          8. Mauricio Reynoso
          12. Hadillah Mohoumadi
          15. Isaac Ekpo

Andre Ward should fight Paul Smith again, I thought Smith clearly won that and the only way to be a true great super middleweight champion is by beating Paul Smith two times in a row.

Great, both will be past prime like Pac and May were.

Oh well. That's rules of boxing...

I don't think it's fair to criticize a guy for not moving up in weight, so I'm not going to say Ward has to move up to 175.

But as far as getting him a reasonable level opponent so he can fight on HBO at 168? I don't see it. It may turn out to be a brilliant move in the long run, but for now it seems like signing with Roc Nation maybe a bad move for him. Then again, if they just end up paying him 2 million dollars a fight tomato cans on BET, maybe he doesn't care.

Yes. If he's staying at 68, he might as well go after the next best guy at 68 that he hasn't fought, DeGale (or even Andre Dirrell). If he's moving up, Fonfara is a name that he can target before Kov. Those are great options.

And Ward has options, it's just every headline seems to have Golovkin's name attached to it so people forget there are other guys that he could easily target.

There are potential setbacks however, Haymon/ROC, and I hesitate to say...the question of venue.; there are guys for him to fight, but would deals fall apart because he'll insist on Oakland or nothing else?
