WBO/WBA/IBF light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (28-0-1, 25KOs) will most likely return on November 28th in Russia, according to his promoter Kathy Duva of Main Events. An arena in Moscow, Russia is already on hold.

There is still no confirmation on whether or not HBO intends to televise the contest in any manner or at the very least show highlights.

Duva and Kovalev are heading to Russia in August to finalize the details.

Let's hope that that fight happens as planned (no long wait as the years fly by). Artur Beterbiev has declared that he wants to fight Sergey, and now Sergey's team are going after Artur. Perhaps fight fans will get both a bout they desire and a bout which they deserve before the year is out.

Artur is strong and can punch but he's not nearly as athletic or polished as Sergey. I think he loses fairly badly.

don't see it happening. she has to go to thru yvon and haymon to get beterbiev, the SAME ppl she has to go thru to get stevenson, why NOT try to get stevenson again. the wbc purse bid would have gotten kovalev 45% of the split bc he had the "silver" title which acts as the "interim" championship. look at the wbc rule 2.12 in their book if you don't believe me. plus the rumor was gym would have bid $10 mill. i doubt HBO was gonna cover that, kovalev would have made more money then than he'll make on HBO now and he didnt have a new contract at the time. they waited till after pascal fight to talk about his new deal rather than before or even inform the public that a new deal was close to being in place. now duva thinks she can go thru the same ppl and get beterbiev, she better get ready to open up her checkbook then......i gotta see this to believe it.

This fight won't happen and I'm sure Duva knows it.

Beterbiev will fight for his first world title against Stevenson, as soon as Haymon thinks he is ready. Unless Stevenson retires instead of facing him, which would not surprise me at all.

Haymon doesnt want it to happen on HBO. in case with Beterbiev he is not as star as Stevenson so there is no real reason to hide him from Kovalev.But i like Duva asking Beterbiev fight in Russia, everyone there know this amateur stories between them and that hate each other.

I'd love to see this fight because both guys are monsters, but I would expect Kovalev to outclass Beterbiev with a UD win or late TKO. But Beterbiev does have a slim shot at just landing monster shots for the KO.

Idk man. I think this is all some attempt at outplaying Haymon cuz Haymon is in Duva's head based on damn near every interview she gives lately. Plus I think Beterbiev is likely going to be the mandatory soon so she can either offer him the fight now while Beterbiev is green on her own terms on HBO or wait a year til he's the mandatory & Beterbiev is more experienced & she's in another purse bid situation with Haymon & maybe Kovalev needs to drop a title cuz Kov can't/won't fight off of HBO.
