I love reading the people who claim that GGG - Ward would do over 500k when Ward didn't even pull 400k on FREE TV. Other than people who post on boxing boards like this, no one knows or cares about who Ward is. And most of the people on the boards are too smart to pay to watch him fight. Ward is the ANTI-DRAW who repels viewers, not attract them.

I don't see it going over 300k but i hope I'm wrong. Lemieux, imo, is a definite step up from Monroe. Nothing special but he has a punchers chance. I don't see him winning any other way. I'll watch this at a bar if they're showing it.

I'm disappointed this is on PPV because it's a great fight and an opportunity to show the public how good boxing can be.

300,000 would be considered a very successful PPV fight. Canelo-Lara,Cotto-Martinez both did in that neighborhood. I can't see GGG first PPV doing that well against someone most people don't know.
I think 200,000 would be pretty damn good.

They seem to be projecting between 350-400k.

By those standards, then yes it will be a flop.

I guess when I said flop I meant do low PPV numbers.

As far as being profitable is concerned.. I think it'd be pretty hard to not turn a profit on this given the relatively low cost they're probably asking for. Purses are like what, max $4M?

                  Comparing HBO to BET, seriously?

Bet reaches about 90 million households. HBO has about 30 million subscribers?

I think it can do 200k or so. It all depends on the promotion.

                      Boxing promotion is anachronistic.

If they use modern means and methods and keep their budgets geared towards maximum effectiveness, I think it can be a success or at least a set up for future endeavors.

Not wildy popular, but somewhat profitable.
