i don't think they could sue cotto, but they certainly could sue the wbc. but if mayweather truly retires, then cotto will have no need for the belt any more and he'll do a rid**** bowe. even if mayweather doesn't retire cotto would probably drop it without too much fuss rather than fight golovkin at 160 lbs. we really need alvarez to beat himComment

i don't think he could get away with that, he's young and ambitious. cotto can vacate because he's old and may never fight at 160 lbs. canelo inevitably will end up at 160 lbs so he'll lose a lot of face immediately vacating a title he has just won because he'd rather continue to hide in between divisionsComment

Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, will be a very interested observer in the upcoming mega-fight between WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico and Mexican star Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
Cotto-Canelo will take place in November, either on the 7th or the 21st, with HBO Pay-Per-View carrying the event. The fight will take place at a catch-weight of 155-pounds.
In several recent interviews, Cotto made it clear that he would demand a catch-weight in his upcoming middleweight fights - at least for the foreseeable future.
