His remarks sound fully biased. He sees the winner of this fight as GGG's money ticket, which I believe it is. He knows if Cotto survives this fight, which as a cotto fan I believe it's a toss up, Cotto will most likely not get into the ring with that lion. GGG is hungry and as "untested" as he is, its too dangerous of a fight for Cotto.
There are too many unknowns in this fight. Has Cotto's last 3 fights been smoke and mirrors? Because his opponents were "handicapped" in some way, as some people claim. One thing we do know, is much of the old old Cotto is back. He is shop worn though, there is no question. His underated footwork and counterpunching is still there. He has brought some pop up with him, no doubt. His timing is still impeccable. Canelo will probably be heavier than him and is seen as a harder puncher by his fans. That power is in question as he has upped his competition level. He was knocking smaller guys that were blown up to fight him. As he stepped it up, he clearly has some pop but nothing to write home about. He does not seem to have backup game plans and doesn't adjust very well in the ring yet. If the fight isn't going his way to resorts to trying to bully his opponent. I think the key to this fight is whether Cotto can stay out of range and when he can't if he can take Canelos punch. I don't know about canelos chin being suspect as people are looking at a fight that took place years ago with the lesser cotto brother. I think canelo has grown since that fight, physically and mentally. Canelos ribs will be tested and if he's rather soft there, which I think he is, it won't take much power but I just a few well placed rib shots to put him on his ass. I am clearly rooting for Cotto, but I cant deny that the fight can go either way.
Canelo's chin is far from suspect.
As he has aged he has filled out physically and his chin is more than solid. Canelo is now a very physically strong guy with a very thick neck, I'd go as far as to say he has a very good chin.
Obviously this is what their banking on. Lemieux in October, Canelo in May. That's the ideal situation and after that they can do whatever (Ward at 168, etc.). If Canelo were to lose however they'll be in a crappy spot and maybe they give up on the 160 lineal crown at that point.
he cant even school trout, let alone canelo... if lara cant do it, cottos only chance is a ko, and is not going to happen...
***** Cotto got a different trainer with 3/0 by KO. You sound like Lara didn't beat your boy when he out boxed Canelo and made him look like a kid. Enough said...
