"If" Canelo beats Cotto and thats a BIG if (50/50), I doubt he fights GGG in his next bout. he will take a fight or 2 (probably 2) before he fights GGG. Both fights will probably be at a full 160 and against someone similar to GGG. I think the fight would happen next year on Mexican Independance day. & of course Sanchez and GGG want Canelo to win, if Cotto wins he will probably fight a good bye match after and retire, Canelo win or lose has a long career ahead...

No way I see if Canelo if he wins going right after 3xG. Canelo is Golden Boy's star and they would milk him a bit until the next big thing.

GGG will get a taste of his own catchweight medicine. 156 or no fight. Canelo is the A side.

Sound familiar GGG? 164 or no ward fight?

GGG will get outboxed and blame it on the catchweight.

Sanchez is right on. Canelo will beat Cotto, which will be good for boxing since Cotto is holding the real world title hostage. Then after an interim warm up defense, Canelo will have the guts to face GGG. Cotto will NEVER face Golovkin!

Ward needs to step up and fight Kovalev.....dude cleaned out the 168 pound division and now he wants a guy to go up to 168??? If GGG is ducking Ward then the same logic applies to Ward ducking Kovalev who is a proven champion, GGG hasn't proven a thing compared to Kovalev....Ward doesn't want it.

Of course you know the GGG fans will. They will never blame him for calling out fighters from 154-168.

Canelo is already the same size/+slightly larger than Golovkin...

He just cuts more water weight. Enough with this bull****, "he needs to grow to 160". The mother****er weighs 172-174 on fight night--- maybe more now (155 catchweight and didn't weigh in on fight night vs Kirkland). Do we want this guy weighing more than 178 and fighting at 160? Seriously? He should be fighting Golovkin after Cotto, unless he wants a tune-up fight first (which I'm okay with), but no more waiting. Or does he want to wait Golovkin out because he got handled in sparring back when he was 21 years old?

Cutting water weight basically goes like this:

                    10% - Don't go beyond this limit... You're basically delirious/functioning poorly.

                    8% - You're pushing it.

5% - A good amount. Probably the normal.

Golovkin could make any weight that Canelo could make, that's a fact. There's no logical reason for Canelo to make a catch-weight when they're about the same (unless Canelo thinks he special when it comes to cutting). So even if Canelo wanted a catch weight, it would pretty much do nothing in the long run, unless he wants to make it a war of who can drain themselves the most and survive in the ring. In that case, lets make the fight at a catch weight of 150.

Canelo is the one apparently having trouble making weight and inventing his own weight class as a result, and not Golovkin and now all the guys who deplore catchweights insofar as Ward is concerned are cheering about the possibility of Golovkin having to fight another middleweight champion at a catchweight.
