  • You can't be mad at GGG and his team, they admitted they can't beat Ward in so many words. GGG has his limitations and is not a monster. Next time his manager say they will fight anybody from 154 to 168, he just need to throw in "Except Andre "SOG" Ward." Problem solved.

Why does it matter what GGG said? I thought when Dawson said "I will come down to 168 to fight Ward" and when Ward accepted his offer, that this was Chad Dawson's fault.

So doesn't that make GGG the better man by default, not being pigeonholed to one generic sentence that he (or his trainer) made.

With that said, now the fight is on the table but it's on the table at 164, 4 pounds less then where Ward is usually fighting at. Why can't the so called P4P skilled Ward make any compromises? Why does the P4P # 2 have to always fight everybody at 168? Is he no better than Carl Froch - a guy who relies on his strength and thus never moved up to 175 where he would no longer be as strong?

When will Ward try to achieve something else besides defend his 168 belt? He is already the Lineal, Ring Magazine Super-middleweight Champ, why does he want to defend his belt against a mere Title holder in GGG?

Simple question for you and others who share this line of thinking.

How do you even know Ward can make 164?

Im dying to know what makes people think that 164 is a reasonable compromise when we dont even know if its possible in the first place.

          • The only reason people are even talking about Ward is because he is attaching his name to GGG.

When Stephenson said he would go to 168 AND Ward's hometown I never saw this level of scrutiny for Ward. I won't even get to Kovalev, that fight will happen because RocNation will make him or sit him on the bench.

            • The triple G camp recognizes Ward's skills and talent so they will try to force him down to 164. If Ward accepts they will ask for a smaller ring and gloves also

I didn't say that he can make it, I'm saying that is the offer. He was willing to come down even less for Floyd (down to 160) wasn't he? Just like GGG was willing to come down even more (to 154) for a Floyd fight. Clearly when the motivation for a big money fight is there, both guys were willing to drop down in weight. GGG was willing to also move up in weight for a big money fight (Froch, Chavez Jr < Chavez being a guy that Ward also wanted). So is the motivation not there for Ward? Is this not a big fight in his mind?

If he can't make 164, then that means that he has outgrown 168, and thus there is no reason for him to keep fighting there and he should take his 172 weight testing up another 3 pounds and become a full fledged Light-heavyweight.

The terms are clear now. 164 or no deal. All Ward can do is call their bluff and see if they move the goal post (which would be indefensible) or move on.

Nope. They will beat Ward alright, doe... but not on his diva terms (e.g.: "I want GGG right now!")... GGG will fight him next year (in case ward is still around), but in a carefully built up fight -- with proper refereeing, a.s.o.

Respectfully, there are many facts wrong in your post.

                      1. No, Ward wasnt about to go down to 160 for Floyd.

                      2. GGG will have to decide what he considers a big fight for himself. But one thing is clear, legacy wise it doesnt get any bigger then Ward. Im shocked GGG's fans dont seem to care about his legacy at all.

                      3. Not being able to come down 4 lbs doesnt mean he has outgrown 168. Your logic here mind-boggingly false. And I think Im being kind in putting it that way. You need to educate yourself in how guys cut weight to fight where they fight.
