No contradiction. He wasn't mando for the WBC title back then and none of the other belt holders would fight him. Seems like, with no path to unify open to him, he was ready to fight Ward because he had no other options.

But HBO told he and Andre that a fight between them didn't make financial sense, so whether Ward was ready to fight or not didn't matter.

I know enough to not get excited over a mismatch like the rest of you gullible fans constantly do. Lemieux gets slaughtered in 6 or less with ease. GGG will go through no danger at all in this fight and that is because he will be fighting an average fighter. Power is nothing if you have no chin.

Ward is a 168 pounder who last fought at 172 calling out a 160 pounder and GGG is the one ducking?

While I think making the 164lb request and sticking to it looks very bad BUT I think it would be OK if they aren't making the Ward fight if they are making a good fight at 160 like Lemieux. If they talked their way out of a fight with Ward in order to take another Monroe... I might be less inclined to side with them. I think they need at least one good unification bout before I can be OK with watching a Heiland/Johnson type of fight. But hey, Lemieux in October then Cotto/Canelo and Lee in 2016 would be great.
