Boxing has no central governing body. It is a sport that is governed by local sports commissions who do not talk to each other and make their decisions totally independently of each other. There are numerous sanctioning bodies, all with their own titles and rules. Now we have the PBC. Other than the occasional superfight, there is really very little money involved in the sport once you remove Floyd and Pac who are two anomalies in the sport. One or two major league baseball teams like the Yankees and Red Sox probably pay out more in salaries per year than is earned by all fighters around the world combined! Look at the PBC... they put out say 5 million in purses per week on average? Compared to a major league baseball team or hockey team or football team or basketball team, that is peanuts. Compare it to ALL baseball teams combined and it is pocket change.

Professional wrestling is more organized!!!! UFC and Belator make boxing look like a Chinese fire drill.

Boxing is small potatoes. It is no longer the highest paying sport in the world where some down on their luck dock worker could become a rich man by beating people up in a ring while ball players were earning $20/week. Boxing had it's hey day and it is long past. I love the sport and love to watch a good fight, but I am not delusional about where it sits in the sports world today.

Tend to agree. I've had a surprising number of debates with people hyping the 4 world champion system we got now lately like its not ****ty for the sport & the fans. Its like some stockholm syndrome thing going on in boxing. Most fans used to hate the 4 alphabet groups, but after living with them a few decades some fans defend them now. Crazy how that works & there are many ****ty things in the sport that fans defend now like they are good things.

People are always wilfully ignorant when the matter of race is brought to the table. How come Kathy does not have a problem with the practises of GBP and Top Rank? They are large promotional companies that practised in house fights and used their superior house of fighter and money to secure lucrative dates. It is not something that had people like Kathy thinking I hope they fail.

The aforementioned companies did not invoke the same feeling of animosity due to the individuals involved. It's acceptable for Bob Arum to behave like a business man and make his bread, it was acceptable for Scaheffer to behave like a business man and make his bread (now that Oscar is in charge, the business is hardly thriving). People refuse to accept Al Haymon's role as professional because people see him as an uppity individual for having the audacity to manage a successful business; whether they openly admit it, it boils down to Al Haymon not fulfilling the role others expect of him.

It must suck to watch someone come in and do what you and your family has been trying to do for years.

Kathy should try innovation rather than hateration.

Disagree. There is a TON of money in boxing. Thats why so many people dip there toe in it. The problem is its so spread out among numerous different boxing power brokers all over the globe. Imagine if all the guys in the MLB or the NBA were spread out among a dozen or so major outfits all over the globe. It spreads out & reduces the money coming in for any one lesser outfit since they don't have that critical mass of talent in one outfit. You would be able to say something very similar about baseball & basketball as you are now about boxing if that was the reality.

There are plenty of sports that aren't what they used to be that still can generate money. If its not Haymon taking advantage of the lack of insight in all the money up for grabs in boxing with making a elite league like most other sports have someone else will do it. Just a matter of time, money & the desire to take the risk.

Boxing is not important enough to get a major network deal, damn... it is so far down the line that even the government can't be bothered to investigate the sport for wrong doing. Compare that with baseball where if a hitter starts hitting more home runs than the previous season, the government starts to get a grand jury investigation ready to go! Even cycling gets more attention.
Don't ever write out your fantasies to me again. Kathy, is that you?
