A gimme retirement fight after solidifying your position as the best fighter of your era against your closest rival.

I'm not sure what the intent was outside of possibly another easy match, against a feather fisted fighter who moved, and someone they felt couldn't handle his speed. Unfortunately if that is what they were thinking they were wrong on all points. Algeri defied what everyone expected, and made Khan look average wise of Boxing skill, speed and technique. Unfortunately saying that as a Mayweather fan, often makes me wonder why he didn't take that fight outside of taking the easy road to the end of a career...

I think Floyd would beat Khan relatively easily.

Let's ask the real question! Why is Mayweather fighting Berto?
I think the answer to that question may be more political than many suspect. Berto was supposed to be the next big thing before the Ortiz fight and was being groomed to fight Floyd. Well, we all know what happened there and thereafter so the Berto that could, became the Berto that can't.

I honestly believe Floyd's choice of Berto has a multi-layered plan attached 1.) There's no shame in losing to Floyd, so if\when Berto loses, he would have received a mega-dose of exposure, a very good payday, and he's setup to continue his career without skipping a beat 2.) The choice of picking Berto also sticks it straight into the eye of Khan, who has been acting the fool towards Floyd every chance he gets. 3.) This also, may be a favor to Haymon, who is close to both Floyd and Berto. Floyd is winding his career down while Berto still has a few years in him.

...............and how is Berto better than him? Should be the other side of the equation.

As do I... I believe Mayweather is taking the easy road and you would have to be delusional to think otherwise. Unlike most, Boxers often don't have the choice to end at the top or take the opportunity to do so. Do I agree with his decision, why not sure I do. Marciano did the same thing fighting Archie Moore before retiring and yet Mayweather has had the more illustrious career. If Pacquiao decided to retire after the Margarito fight and fought Mosley as a goodbye his fans would be saying "Great Career"... Yet Mayweather does so against Berto who is still quite young but is being Crucified.

Basically what everyone else in this thread is saying, tried to beat Chris in better fashion than Manny and it didn't work out so well.

Because he has no Power and I think he thought he could defeat Algeiri better than Pacquiao did. Khan love to use the Triangle Method like "I Beat Maidana More Impressively Than Mayweather Did So That Means I Can Beat Mayweather"

Floyd is "saving" Khant for his easy 50th win much like Khant is "saving" Brook for a bigger fight.

He'll fight him after 49, just relax Khant-suckers.

Obvious, face the safest soft punching fighter from a lighter weight division.
