Lemieux won a VACANT title...he didn't take it off a champion.

Hopkins was over 40 and jumped to 175 to become the lineal light heavyweight champ. This is a guy who made 154 as a middleweight as well. At almost 50 he stepped in the ring with Kovalev, which Adonis is too ***** to do

When people talk about the best middleweights of all time 50 years from now, Hopkins name will be one of the first mentioned. Nobody will talk about GGG, because he was too ***** to step up and become an ATG. Nobody will even remember who GGG was.

So I guess that gives Golovkin another 7 or 8 years or so to make up his mind.

Actually,lemieux has more of a following in Canada alone,than ward has in the entire world. Lemieux can sell ppv in Canada,ward can't sell ppv in his mom's house.

Lemieux has more fans in Montreal alone than Ward has in the entire world. Probably has more fans in OAKLAND than Ward does for that matter. I bet that a GGG - Lemieux fight in Oakland would outdraw a Ward fight anywhere in the world.

The fact that Team Golovkin will not even consider Lara is very telling imho.

Fighting Froch at 168, but refusing to fight Ward at 168..... and selecting Monroe over Lara because Monroe is the bigger draw..... tells me all I need to know about the decision-making process of Team Golovkin.

And that is why Golovkin has an underwhelming resume.

Not sure why posters here oppose unification fights, especially when the fighter is attempting to unify ALL the belts in the division to create a single champion. Weirdo boxing fans.

It would be a bigger fight financially and get a bigger audience. It would also make GGG/Ward a bigger fight next year than it is now. So, for Golovkin, Lemieux is a better opponent right now than Ward.

Nobody is opposing a unification bout

Is that the latest reason why Golovkin cannot fight Ward/Lara ?

Golovkin was not attempting to unify his division last month when he was calling out Froch at 168, and Chavez does not hold a middleweight title either.

That is a weak excuse anyway, because technically Golovkin did not refuse to fight Ward, he demanded a catchweight. Demanding a catchweight from Ward is not unifying at 160.

Still we got piss-weak excuses as the fanboys rally to protect Golovkin.
