No, that would be ****** to say. It's pretty clear Golovkin's stance right now - they were willing to go up to 168 for a big money fight, since Golovkin is a middleweight and currently campaigning at middleweight. Ward isn't a big money fight so clearly the risk outweighs the reward in their opinion. They are in a position where they have a couple potential big fights at 160, being that Golovkin is mandatory to Canelo/Cotto winner. It's obvious they want to try to unify (likely against Lemieux) and then hopefully fight Canelo/Cotto after. Moving up to fight Ward now, and yes potentially losing, could mess that all up. There is no need to rush to Ward right now in their eyes given the position they're in. The risk/reward is not worth it for them at this time.

Obviously by taking this stance the whole "we'll beat everyone from 154 to 168" catch phrase takes a hit, and the haters have some new ammo to hate on Golovkin (ducking a guy a weight class above him, etc.), but as they have stated for a while now their goal is unifying 160. I wouldn't rule out a Ward fight next year however, as I've stated for months clearly Ward isn't in their plans for 2015 but if they get the fights they want I see them going after Ward in 2016 (which makes more sense anyway).
Same **** you f*ggot ****s criticize other fighters for. But it's OK for Golovkin.

    FRAUD!

      • Ward has been on the shelf for two years and he's under a promotion who wants money as quickly as possible. I don't know how much they paid Ward, but they didn't pay him what they did to fight some other nobody. Ward is trying to get paid and the fact of the matter is GGG is a bigger name than Kovalev and would bring more money to the table as well as the easier fight. Ward really wants the fight.

GGG's stance is understandable, I know why he wants to drain Ward. But for reference, Cotto never said he would beat every MW out there. In fact, he just said he isn't a MW. GGG just commented how he isn't that big and would face Floyd at 154... that makes sense with his stance here, but he's also said he'd beat anyone from 154-168. Who runs GGG's PR division? I liked the guy, I still like his style but they've killed this guys credibility, you can't believe anything he says. He's worse than Floyd with contradictions yet nearly every one of his fans hate Floyd, they're the same person except Floyd actually fought and beat credible opponents while talking ****.

          Actually, me too, great point.

I almost never use the word " easy " when discussing boxing.

There is nothing about boxing that is easy.

          Ward beats Golovkin easy.

I'm over that fight, and I am over Golovkin.

Golovkin is all hype..... bring on Kovalev at 175.

          • K2 asking for a catchweight isn't a good look. At all.

I'm not surprised with the reactions by some of the GGG caping team on here either.

Quick to excoriate anybody asking for catchweights, but want to cop pleas and hand out passes when it comes to their guy.

            Hey, welcome to the NSB.

Venue and purse split, fine. Those are reasonable points to negotiate for.

The fight should be at '68.

            End of story.

                Exactly !

                Another good post.

Like I have been saying for a long time..... they clearly dont want none of Andre Ward..... which is why Tom Loeffler has made so many different excuses whenever questioned about Ward..... Loeffler has never considered making that fight, exactly the opposite in fact.

                  • Just reference for you GGG fans... Ward's last fight was at 172, he's always coming down 4 pounds. GGG and company are trying to Chad Dawson poor Andre.
