Don't be daft mate, Ggg and kov are biggin Mexicans up. Everyone knows Mexico and Latin America have fabulous boxing heritage and are known for the most part to have solid chins and never take a backwards step, excellent counterpunching and split second timing. African American boxing (can't think of many indigenous or white American boxers) is all about speed, movement, intelligence and explosive power. Call it running if you like but I won't. At the very elite level this type of boxing has the edge but only at that level. I like most fans prefere the fan friendly "Mexican style" because they are hard as nails and aim to win by ko instead of points.

Kovalev often reminds me of the style of Marquez, often working for a counter although his defensive abilitys are often dismissed. People seem to forget the Russian/Eastern Europeans were looked as more of boxers, like the Klitchko brothers, all the way back to Johansson, Schmeling.
Couldn't agree more, honestly Boxfan you come off a little sensitive. Mexican style generally means an offensive, come forward style. The stereotype is there for a reason, some might call them mindless brawlers, but to each their own, I have and always will prefer fighters who want to fight. I don't mind Golovkin saying that because he fits the mold well enough.

And american fighters ( mostly afro-american) prefer counter punching style( Floyd, Ward...)
If you look at history, the good/great Mexican boxers were not "brawlers." Most were aggressive counter punchers ie. Sanchez, Barrera, Morales, Marquez... (and just for note) for someone to say JCC Sr. was a brawler would mean they dont know **** about boxing. With that said, I can agree that a majority of Mexican boxers are what some may call brawlers but boxing is a huge sport in Mexico and among Mexican Americans so the sport is dilluted with Mexicans, if the sport were dilluted with blacks, whites, asians etc, thered be a large majority of brawlers in those cultures as well, and I say this because I think we all can agree when it comes to boxing, a brawler is referred to fighters with no skill, smarts, or athleticism.

you really think ggg and kovalev are referring to themselves as one dimensional brawlers when they say "Mexican style?" Who would do that? All they mean is they come to fight and bring action. You're totally misinterpreting what they're saying.
