Why no criticism of Kov for avoiding the purse bid to fight a 45-1 underdog mandatory?

Fetta- when kov is a 45-1 favorite, that's exciting must see TV. If Thurman is a 20-1 favorite, that is a PBC mismatch.

        No, that's simply not true.

Let's not forget, Kovalev wanted to fight Stevenson on HBO in 2014 (he called Adonis out after the Sillakh fight in late 2013) but Adonis avoided him.

Adonis took the easier path, and went with Haymon, who he knew would protect him and have him avoid Kovalev, Pascal and Hopkins.

Now, Kovalev still wants to fight Adonis, but the fight would need to be on one of Haymon's networks, and Kovalev is contractually bound to HBO.

But you already knew all that.

All that being said, Duva and HBO share part of the blame with Haymon and Adonis. But not Sergey, because he would LOVE to fight Adonis - his goal is to unify all the belts.

It's 2015 Tunney. 2014 is over and done with.

Since then, Kov asked for the purse bid. You and others applauded the move. he and Duva then refused to participate. He then signed to fight the mandatory, a 45-1 underdog. Cut and dry case of taking the easier road.

He also was at the end of the HBO deal and resigned after dropping out of the purse bid. SO his being obligated to HBO is a hollow excuse.

He took the easier path for the money, you are not criticizing him for it. He doesn't use VADA, you don't criticize him for it. Shameful on your part.

Kov said he wanted to unify all the belts but backed out of the purse bid to give him a chance to do it. his actions don't match his words.

HBO's card has more potential to be entertaining.

I agree. I've never been overly impressed with Pascal to begin with but I think it might be downhill for him from this point on.

How do you feel about Floyd fighting Berto in 2015?

Berto is no better at this stage in his career than Mohammedi, probably worse.

Unlike Mohammedi, he's NOT Floyd's mandatory. And he's NOT in the Ring or Transnational top 10 at welterweight, like Mohammedi is at 175.

Floyd is supposed to be the best boxer in the world, yet he chooses Berto?

                  Be consistent, Big Dunn.

Pretty sure he had to fight Mohammedi regardless of any Stevenson fight, because the IBF pushed it back from the previous year.
