  • Comments Thread For: Hearn on DeGale/Haymon, Matchroom Fighters Going PBC

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is not threatened by James DeGale's decision to sign a managerial deal with powerful adviser Al Haymon.

DeGale captured the IBF super middleweight title in May with a twelve round unanimous decision over Andre Dirrell. The fight headlined Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) card in Chicago. Haymon's company, Haymon Boxing, created the PBC series.

sounds like every promoter has no problem working with haymon except gbp and top rank and also main events which is basically an extension of top rank. Soon fans will realize they are the real problem not pbc but it will take time cause people have so much negative emotion towards haymon for weird and ridiculous reasons

Smart move by Hearn and haymon....

Haymon will give hearn's guys exposure on american TV, raising their profile, and enabling Hearn to have a competitive advantage over other UK promoters, thus enabling him to corner the UK market on talented fighters, and haymon will get a nice pipeline of UK talent and establish the PBC brand in Europe...

Easy to say this now. Let's see what he's saying months from now when fights he wants Haymon turns down. If I recall after Golden Boy sent Richard Schaefer packing, Oscar said the same things and wanted to keep their relationship. His tune changed when all the fights he tried to make Haymon refused to allow his fighters to accept.

That's like saying besides my mom, my dad and my siblings all my family members get along with me. You just named about 80% of the promoters in the game that put on significant fights. And you also left out HBO and Roc Nation. HBO, Golden Boy, Top Rank, Roc Nation and Main Events all have problems with Haymon and they contain a long list of top fighters in the game.

All of the fights that Oscar wanted (besides Rigo v Santa Cruz), we eventually got them on PBC.

without GB involved. So lets see if Hearn gets the fights he wants or if Haymon pushes him aside and if and when he makes those fights he does them without Hearn. Point is it's easy for Hearn to say this now he has no choice. Talk to me 6-12 months from now. Everyone says I have no problem working with Haymon at first. It's only until Haymon starts blocking fights that people finally start speaking up

How are they not a major player when they have Cotto who is about to sign a monster deal to fight Canelo later this year and had one of the best viewer-ships of the year in his fight on HBO a few months ago? And Ward is on everyone's top 3 P4P lists? When you have 2 fighters who are more accomplished then anyone who has fought on PBC so far. Roc Nation might only have 2 name fighters but both names are a bigger deal then anybody on PBC right now. How is HBO hurting? They are having their best year in like damn near a decade. Did you see the numbers Canelo just did? Canelo vs Cotto is going to do monster PPV numbers. And here is the key HBO fights make money. Something not a single PBC fight has done. All have lost millions. PBC has hurt Showtime. But PBC hasn't done a thing to hurt HBO, their ratings are all up from last year when PBC didn't exist.

Fact is saying besides Golden Boy and Top Rank Haymon has no problems with anyone is a lie. Top Rank, Golden Boy, Roc Nation, HBO, Main Events that's a long list and a huge percentage of the star fighters in boxing right now. Haymon has a lot of fighters but other then Mayweather not any stars compared to the big named fighters from that list.

Pbc got into boxing game knowing they will lose money for the next 3-5 years cotto usually fights once a year getting two fights this year and ward just came back off a 19 month hiatus those two will not be fighting every 3 months to carry roc nation ppl assume roc nation and haymon has a problem working together because of purse bid and issue with Beyoncé her dad and haymon it's only the three HBO promotional companies that has a problem with haymon if HBO lift ban then they stars can get better fights those promotional companies major stars are signed to exclusive deals and with the lack of named fighters in stable to fight named fighters they moan about haymon you have yet to hear roc nation or anyone associated with them say they won't work with haymon
