Arreola KO1 was one of the easiest predictions I've ever made.

Not only were fans calling the next Mayweather but actual people in Boxing aswell. Infact they were saying he's better than Mayweather.

I will never forget on Ringside when Johnny Nelson, Glen McCrory and Spencer Oliver aka The 3 Dummies were saying that Broner at age 23 is a better version than Mayweather. Followed by Johnny "I literally have no clue" Nelson talking about how easily Broner dominated Ponce De Leon. They were talkng about how his Defense is as good or better than Mayweather's except that Broner has power and an amazing offense Aswell. Crazy.

Even after Broner edged passed an old Malignaggi people were STILL hyping him. God knows why.

Then Maidana was called a cherry pick, and Broner was going to "brutalise" him, "Destroy" him and "Massacre" him. A new term "Chino'd" was going to be coined after the beating Broner was going to put on him. It baffled me then and it still does now.

It wasn't until Maidana batters him that the hype truly stopped.
This seems to be what people are forgetting about the Broner hype. We're not just talking NSB like with Matthysse. The actual boxing world was calling him the next Mayweather and the future of the sport.

Yeah but I don't think any boxing fans really took him seriously. Deontay Wilder and David Price were hyped.

Wilder might still turn out to be hype imo. The jury is still out, but he's better than I originally thought.
You can't really be labeled a hype job until someone exposes you or you lose a fight you should win. Wilder hasn't lost yet and won as an underdog. There is no way anyone can call Wilder a hype job at this point. Probably not even if he loses to Povetkin or Wlad. Only if he loses to someone like Arreola..

Broner easily not sure why Matthysse is in discussion he is quite clearly world class and has a solid resume. What was supposedly exposed about him exactly? Other than he turned out to be in fact human and not a machine as claimed..

I'd say David Price a solid second, he was tipped for huge things in the near future and many was saying he was a very legit threat to Wladimir.

If Broner stayed at 135lbs he could have become a top champion. However the move up to 147lbs totally derailed the hype train.

Exactly!!...Lucas is the truth....nothing fictional about his status....I think people got caught up with him being the heavy fav against Swift and coming up short....they'd rather take credit from Lucas than to give some to Swift

                      Adrien Broner
                      Lucian Bute
                      David Price
                      Seth Mitchell
                      Andre Berto
Adrien Broner head over heels. Not because he sucks, which he does, but more so because he was really being hyped up. We heard so much about how big Adrien Broner was going to be.

Other nominees: Tyson Fury and the guy in your avi are hype trains waiting to charge right into a brick wall. Bute is up there as well.

I still think Matthysse and Khan lived up closer to their expectations than people are making it sound.
