I was a huge James Toney fan too!

But I couldn't deny the greatness of Roy Jones.

The dude started at 154 and wound up winning the Heavyweight title.

imo toney was better than roy in most things.

roy was just more athletic and didn't have a mcdonald's platinum card.

I knew I'd see loads of Roy Jones posts when I saw the title of this thread. He's ridiculously overrated on this forum. He'd be competitive vs everyone in history, but to say he would never lose in a head to head match up is silly. B-hop was competitive with him, he looked mediocre against McCallum despite dominating, and boxed on even terms with Montell Griffin until the DQ. In the rematch he won on power, he didn't answer the questions about his boxing skills with that. Roy Jones fought a lot of terrible guys and looked great doing so. He also looked great against some good guys like Toney, but to say he looked unbeatable is just silly.

Was not old enough to see sugar Ray Robinson live only videos. I would say sweet pea or Roy jones jr, both were untouchable at times. I really hated RJJ so I was happy when traver blasted him. I was a big sweet pea fan and wish he would have layed off the drugs and partying. Still think on his A game would beat any one! Honorable mention JCC

I don't like saying guys who were before my time as I really haven't seen enough to make a full judgement.

With that being said, Roy Jones and Mayweather stand out as the best.

Between 1937 and 1938 Henry Armstrong won the lineal Featherweight world title, then stepped up to win the lineal Welterweight world title and then stepped back down to win the lineal Lightweight world title. The WW title he would hold until 1940 (defending 19 times), in that time he would also challenge for a portion of the Middleweight title which resulted in a very debatable draw.

Between those dates he could well have been the best fighter who ever lived.
