Official Mayweather Vs Berto master thread.

As an event you definitely got your money's worth. 4 competitive fights. knockdowns in each fight. 2 upsets (should have been 3 but w/e). 1 fan friendly brawl. Even with the main event not being that great, the other fights made up for it.

Very entertaining card all around. Really enjoyed the undercard, Gonzalez vs Oquendo turned dull after a while but it had some exciting moments. Disappointed in Groves a bit. Rocky vs Salido was better than the first, Rocky said **** it and went to war with Salido. I am PRican and WE all had Salido winning at least by a round or two. The draw is understandable but it felt as if Salido worked HARDER than Rocky did.

Berto surprised me, within his limitations, he stepped it up last night and was on floyd ALL 12 rounds. His stamina surprised me more than anything. HE CAUGHT floyd with some good shots but the consistency was not enough to accumulate damage. Berto was ready though, when floyd opened up to exchange in the few instances that he did, Berto got stunned flush but he knew it was his only chance to catch floyd and exchanged right back. He looked VERY STRONG last night physically, very focused mentally, probably the best version of Berto I have seen.

IF this was floyds last fight, which I doubt, I am happy to have witnessed it. Hate aside, as a boxing fan, I have never gotten as excited for boxing events as I have for every floyd event. The magnitude and feeling of his events are something else. Love him or hate him, either feeling is strong enough to create a peculiar intrigue in whats going to happen. Hated him as a boxer but his villain figure will be missed. However, I hope this is the end of an era and the beginning of a new one where the top figures in the sport are offensive minded / aggressive, a golden age revival of sorts.[/B] And it looks promising with Golovkin, Lemieux, Canelo, Kovalev, Wilder, Roman Gonzalez, etc.

Carlos Molina was DQ'd for his trainer entering the ring by accident for about 1 second, because the bell had rung, for F's sake. Floyd gets to have his trainer Roger jump in the ring during the middle of a round in order to attempt to assault Juddah, sparking a riot, and he doesn't get DQ'd.

Right, no favoritism there.

Castillo also won 8 rounds in their fight, very clearly.

The ref in the Judah fight stated he called "time" before Roger entered the ring which is why the DQ wasn't issued. As for the Castillo fight, Floyd put the early rounds in the bank and won 7-5 but worst case was a draw. They did have a rematch and Floyd did beat him more convincingly, you know? Even though the judges tried to make up for the poor scoring in the first fight with even worse scoring the 2nd time around.

I thought it was odd how wild the crowd got on glancing blows or one punch during May-Berto.

They just saw two guys slug it out for 12 rounds over 1500+ punches and then ooh and aah over a glancing blow to Floyd's collarbone.

Gotta respect the aura Floyd has built around him.

Noticed that. Floyd came out fast then around 3 round he laid on ropes and berto flurried to hit nothing and crowd loved it. Floyd noticed it too cause after that he laid on the ropes and tried to slip and move everything, even dancing at one point.

13395 in crowd was pure Floyd and his skill set.

Good card. Worth my money.

Round 6 was great!

Late in fight floyd on ropes popped off left, right, slipped out and left hook. Brilliant display

Good post, the main even wasn't particularly dazzling for me but I respected Berto for bringing it the best he could, he didn't let off and put everything into every round... he just wasn't quite good enough, which against Mayweather is nothing to be ashamed of, it seemed like Mayweather was just trying to enjoy himself in there and get his last win tbh, like he was going through the motions... I do think he wants to retire but I think he may go for #50 if they offer him enough money.

The part about Mayweather retiring I do agree with, his style and boxing ability will be missed in my eyes, he was one of a kind and a very unique fighter, but it seems like its time to hang them up, hes nowhere near what he used to be and seems to have aged a lot since Canelo IMO. But like you said, if he retires its just the end of one era that you can appreciate and the start of another, there's plenty of solid fighters out there and its time for the fresh blood start to carry the sport.

And there wont be another Mayweather either, just like there wont be another Ali, Robinson, Tyson, Pacquiao, Duran, etc. they were all unique and that's what makes them great, the next face of boxing will not be a copy of Mayweather, he will be a unique fighter.

The crowd was kind of dead for that fight, God knows why. It was semi full and it seemed like it was only me oo'ing and ah'ing

It didn't get full until Floyd though, and the atmosphere was great for the main event.

Maidana got robbed in the first fight, all Saline did was clinch and elbow. I didn't watch the second fight, I knew it would be the same ***** demands, and the judges would have their scorecards filled out before the fight started.

As far as Canelo goes, Canelo was young and weight drained, and Saline still managed to make it a boring fight.

Clearly, you have an axe to grind. You've already determined before hand, no matter who Floyd fights, that

1) The judges are bought
2) So is the ref
3) Mayweather is cheating
