Just because others are doing the wrong thing, does not mean everyone else has to follow. On top of that Floyd is in a different position than anyone you can name, he can 99% get any fight he wants. While guys like say Thurman, Brook, GGG, have seen road blocks trying to make certain fights. Floyd has no road blocks, everyone is willing to fight him, for that big pay day.

I'm happy Floyd is fighting him though. He deserves a soft touch after all the elite comp he's faced.

Monroe Jr was a huge underdog but the difference is Mayweather can choose almost anyone from 140-160 and they'll move up or down in weight just to fight him. GGG doesn't have those options. That's why its a bit sad Floyd might fight Berto. At least the element of cable TV makes it intriguing.

But what does he have left to prove? Final fight and fights a soft touch for floyds standards. Meanwhile all these other supposed beasts do it all the time and get hyped to the moon. I think if this does happen one of the sadder aspects is that Khan, Brook, Thurman, etc have wasted so much time fighting soft touches because they were scared to lose their chance at a Floyd ticket.

No he's wrong, he's accepted the bad politics of boxing. Floyd still remains the best boxer in the world, in everyones eyes. This is not some guy on his last legs getting a farewell fight, this is the best STILL DOING IT, P4P#1. He should be fighting the best fighter he can, because he is more than capable.

Just because Floyd is #1 does not automatically mean he has to fight the BEST fighter every time out.

What other fighter in the history of the sport has done that?

The last long reigning pound for pound king we've had in the sport was Hopkins, Jones and De La Hoya. None of those guys fought elite or #1 contenders every title defense.

Hell, I remember De La Hoya squeezing Corley in between fights with Ike and Tito. Nobody complained. Media gave him a pass. This is standard in boxing.
