Comments Thread For: Hatton Says Froch is One of The Best UK Has Produced

Ricky Hatton has reacted to Carl Froch's retirement by hailing the former world champion as "one of the best we've had."

Hatton, who was a two-weight world champion and the darling of British boxing in the 2000s, has been particularly impressed by the attitude of 'The Cobra' (33-2-KO24), who has never dodged the big names in the super-middleweight division.

Carl Froch v George Groves might have done 80K in Wembley, but I doubt it would have had 8000 paying fans to see it at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. People from the UK tend to overrate their own and project their feelings on the rest of the world.

Hatton's a funny one. Saying that Froch is kind of like Hatton is an insult to Froch. Froch was the greater fighter...it's not even close.

That's debatable, Froch was never the lineal world champ in his weight class while Hatton was. Also, Hatton retired an ATG (Tszyu) while Froch was still ham and egging.

Being one of the best in the UK, is not saying much.

Hatton was a descent fighter but no ATG.
