No. Pro fighters should keep themselves in shape at all times. That way, you can spend camp working on a fight plan rather than having to spend the whole camp on weight reduction.

Besides, do you really think when Floyd announces the fight is the exact point the opponent knew the fight got made? Come on dude, its ok to hate floyd, just do it with some intelligence and facts.

Delays announcements? When would you like to have had the Spet. 12th opponent announced?

I agree fighters should stay in fighting shape, but that is still an unwritten rule.

Until someone shows proof that Floyd lets his opponent know ahead of time he's the one or the possible one (so that the fighter can specifically focus their fight camp on Floyd)... then why defend Floyd with optimistic speculation?

You guys have got to stop the "defending Floyd" thing as if what you post is gospel and we all must agree with it. You haven't supported your points with ANY facts. You getting called on it or corrected is not defending Floyd.

Of course, Floyd, as with any A side superstars like SRL and ODH, use their status to their advantage. If you do not like that, ok.

If you are a true pro and stay in shape all the time, eat right, work out, you can use camp to focus "on Floyd".

Floyd and BHop are able to focus solely on their opponent and plan because they do not have to use time to cut weight. That isn't Floyd taking advantage of someone that is lack of professionalism on the other guys part.

Same in other sports where some guys use training camp to "get in playing shape" while others, who maintain staying in shape, can use camp to "fine tune" their skills.

Floyd is eschewing the historical promotion of a fight and instead using social media to announce and promote a fight. Saves him untold resources I would guess because a tweet is much less than a presser.

if you do not like that and prefer the old way-cool.

So all of Floyd's opponents should stay in shape like him?

8 weeks is the normal training camp length, no?

                Think about this ......

When has any Floyd opponent who was announced eight weeks before the fight, ever stated that we are still negotiating the contract or terms ?????????

I do not recall one instance other than the glove issue\non-issue in Maidana II. Still the contract were already signed.

So, deductive reasoning would strongly suggest that talks were in progress long before the announcement and that the opponent knew in advance.

It's almost like some of these idiots believe that whoever his opponent is finds out with the rest of us. Lol

all professional boxers should stay in as best shape they can by eating right and working out year around IMO.

Do you feel differently or you think the same thing?

Who Cares! Ready to move on from Mayweather ERA!

I hope Mayweather doesn't fight Khan, Brook, Thurman or Porter! I would much rather see them fight each other and start building their own legacy! Mayweather has nothing left to prove, fight a damn Cab Driver and Retire Already and give up those damn Belts so these guys can have something to fight for.
